USAA Heavy H1B Users

Someone just dropped a bunch of data on Pastebin (it's a place you can anonymously post data sets) that lays bare how far USAA has strayed from what we thought USAA was.
1. USAA filed for very few H1Bs directly, so they show up on H1B Explorer as having only 159 H1Bs.
2. The data reveals that filings for H1Bs/LCAs for USAA used 486 different names for what is the same umbrella company, which makes data reporting more opaque (USAA FSB, USAA headquarters, USAA HQ, UNITED STATES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION, UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION, are all reported as different employers.)
3. USAA has certified 12,174 H1Bs since 2007. The entire company has about 25k employees at current. Most of these roles were certified through middlemen like HCL, Tata Consultancy Services, PwC, Accenture, Capgemini, etc.
4. Job titles are almost entirely in IT, ranging from "Software Developer" to "Technical Team Lead," "Advisory Director," "Senior Director Real Estate Valuation," and hundreds more.

Call almost any large company that deals with the general public and you will most likely speak to someone from the PR firm of Singh, Kumar and Patel whose first name is Todd, James, or Eric but sound like they live in Mumbai or Hyderabad. And honestly, they speak English better than many Americans and are pretty good at their jobs.

USAA went to shite in the late 90s when they started letting in the riffraff.
That's a bit of sarcasm, but that change and really the 2009 change, when they really expanded eligibility, turned it into just another insurance company. Better than some, but it wasn't the same as when they followed their original mission.

I can understand tech companies in need of a narrow skill set that may require dipping into the h1b pool. A run of the mill company like USAA should have little problem filling needs at home.

This tells you they KNEW it would look bad & went to GREAT lengths to hide it.
