That and China is about to take a desperate Russia to the cleaners. They could get by also with no Russia business.

There's no way China and Russia have an armed populace like the US. They will probably roll through the pacific states because their state governments have done a good job of disarming their citizens. Colorado and Idaho will probably be the stopping point.
They probably wouldn't get past our pacific fleet.

Yeah, but the Russians have an even more powerful ally than guns: the weather. You've really got a 6 month window to invade and take over, and if you fail to do that within 6 months, you're fricked. They can last a winter we can't.

I would imagine a nice blockade or two and some manipulation of the energy markets and such at the start of one of these winters and they would be so fcked. Half their country would probably be almost starving by the time it starts.

Economic fallout aside, and conventional non-nuclear, I think our submarine and Carrier forces could pretty much lock down the oceans.

Very true. An invasion from the West is impossible. It would have to be from the east or southeast and be very quick.
Hammer Moscow quick and early.
China would be much more naval in nature.
