We're about to have a meltdown that makes 2008 look like a cake walk aren't we
Posted on 8/19/26 at 9:18 am to geauxtigers87
Who knows? We might navigate out of this with minimal damage.
Posted on 8/19/26 at 9:18 am to geauxtigers87
Well the Feds saved a lot of people’s asses in 2008. Will they do it again? Probably but the question is will it work again?

Yup. Don’t get sucked in by high yields.

Middle class gets further eroded in the process

Problem is no one goes to jail so it happens again 20 years later

Well, yes. I think part of his point is that this is manipulation and that the cache of tricks won't last forever.

I said last year I was ramping up buying
I am not buying from the market, though. I am buying fixer-uppers only so I have equity from day one.

I never said that.
That being said, the one thing I hope happnes is this correction kills off every stupid arse "wholesaler" middleman there is. I hate that fricking business model. Just a bunch of leeches. Bye-bye, We Buy Ugly Houses and others.

I only follow people like him for data. I consume a ton of data from various sources and form my own opinion.
I stay busy with or without a crash. I have more than a few revenue streams.

20-year bonds are auctioning today, he's timed this can-kicking to try to gain some small extra distance from that.
We'll see what happens with tails.

I am convinced the guys running the show subscribe to MMT (Modern Monetary Theory). That is literally the only excuse for these continued actions.

I had thought that approach would come from Congress, like an AOC or Sanders pushing it as the only way to tackle the debt and a Congress full of members desperate for re-election would glom onto this magical "I can spend as much as I want and it won't hurt anyone" dream. I like to think of the Treasury as being more practical, but desperation could possibly breed that sort of hopium.
I'm not sold on Bessent being like that yet, but we'll see what the future brings.

on this issue I strongly suspect this is driven straight from the White House. Trump has just revived his threat to fire Lisa Cook. It is very clear that the White house would rather manipulate and manipulate the market in order to keep interest rates down than to actually address the budget deficit.

To be fair, I don't think anyone currently elected to federal office -nor even most of those running for federal office- want to address it as there's no win in doing so and speaking the problem out loud might clue in the general public to the true depth of the structural issues holding up our economy and currency.
