So while the previous administration was throwing out multi billion dollar "energy saving" contracts to people like snaggle tooth down in Georgia to "buy" stoves........this admin is actually trying to do what a govt should do.

How can anyone vote democrat?

Palmer Lucky was talking about defense and he said all chinese made cargo vessels had a specific hull designed and approved by their govt so they could easily be converted for war time purposes.

Its nice to see us thinking proactively like the ole days. When Eisenhower started the interstate system, one of the specs was that within every five mile stretch there would be a quarter mile that was flat and straight........in case we were ever invaded planes could land to defend the country.

how to deal with the massive spent fuel disposal

Sell it to countries that use spent fuel or develop our own reactors that use spent fuel.

I actually think yucca mountain was not a disposal project, but a storage project for future fuel.

This is awesome

It feels like we are winning again. I think Trump just saved the good stuff until right before midterms

There's still a lot of issues to sort out with this, mainly how to properly insure the vessel and how to deal with the massive spent fuel disposal and scrapping costs at end of life.

How is that being handled by current nuclear-powered non-military marine vessels? This is far from a new concept and reactor design and waste handling are much evolved too.

I dont know. As far as I know there are no US flagged merchant nukes right now. The Russians have a few but I dont think they've scrapped one yet, and I imagine their military will handle defueling them and pulling the plant out.

Im sure our government is going to be issuing some assurances with insurance and decomissioning as an incentive to get them built. The opex savings on fuel SHOULD more than cover the costs but, you know how that goes.

Are they building this vessel in the USA?

Right there with you at 67. Makes me think, what do you think we'll see before our time here is done?
> Moon colony.
> The transition from internal combustion to all electric transportation.
> Commercial nuclear fusion.
> The normalization of self driving cars.
> Personal self flying transportation.

What else do y'all bass have?

Would be great if we built 6 new ship yards producing hundreds of these vessels!

US pulls the reactor and either upgrades it and reinstall in a new hull or decommission it.

Dominate China? How?
These ships will be filled with the same cargo, mostly coming from Asian countries. China is developing these now, but the US is slightly ahead. Shipbuilders sell these ships to private companies that maintain commercial fleets. Right now, Chinese companies dominate in the fleet size. What's preventing a Chinese company from buying one of "our" nuclear powered cargo ships?

Probably would have to use the same anti-tampering technology Japanese and German companies use for their CNC equipment leased to Chinese companies or in use in their factories. High accuracy GPS and accelerometers are built into the equipment, any attempt to move or disassemble the machines without authorization from the manufacturer scrambles the control software and renders it unusable until reset.

18% approval rating for the party, 48% of the votes. But that's not really a mystery, considering the pushback on SA Act.

For a young person about to graduate HS, this might be the perfect time to consider enlisting for nuclear operator training
