outside the third world, we are the only country without it. Soo yeah almost everyone worse and better than us will have it.

We honestly haven't even gotten to the point were coronarvius survivors and surviving families get their hospital bill.

And what are the demographics of those countries?

How can I spin this as OMB?

Trump takes early and decisive containment action while dems flitter with impeachment. He fast tracks testing and lab procedures, then gets vital medication through the FDA in record time.

Dems: Racist! Xenophobia! Hysterical!!!!!!!
We must investigate!!!!! Impeach again!!!!!

Cuomo ignores early Coronavirus guidance from Trump and loses track of thousands of vents, while local NYC leaders urge citizens to ignore Trump and hit Chinatown in celebration! NY becomes a bigger covid hot zone than Germany, France, or the UK.

Dems: Make Cuomo President!!!!!

Can’t make this shite up.

Maybe in New York. We’re not testing asymptomatic folks in Missouri. Maybe if they’re healthcare.

We’re middle of the pack and people are beating their chests about universal healthcare.

We have the best healthcare in the world. It is also vastly more expensive than any other place, and tens of millions have no insurance. The statement that we have bad healthcare is not what the debate is about.

You haven’t been paying attention if this is what you think about the debate. The vast majority of statist think we have substandard health care.

Nobody in the country is testing mild/asymptomatic folks. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Most states are only testing if you have severe symptoms.

Brush up on your facts ninja.

Given that some of the supposed paragons of global health systems had higher rates than us AND how fat we are (corona hits people with co morbitities harder) I figured that was pretty good.

I guess you missed the months and months of Bernie Bots telling us how great Denmark, UK and Scandinavian HC are and how shite our is.

You are supposed to use number of cases. Because we were always going to be first in that one.

That's my point. In much of the country testing is still somewhat constrained, so any mortality equation is going to pick up all the dead positives, a good chunk of the sick positives, but not much of the mild or asymptomatic positives. That will serve to make the crude deaths/tested positive equation overstated in those places because it's missing many if not most of the surviving positives.

For a country full of unhealthy people we sure are healthy.

Easy Cochese, why are you so pissy?

The NY/NJ area has much less stringent testing criteria than anywhere else in the US and are in fact testing a some asymptomatic people and even more mildly symptomatic people. I say that as an asymptomatic person who has been tested and who was part of setting the testing protocols for a decent sized health system. It's why they've tested so much more than anywhere else. I'm looking our of my window at the testing tents. Trust me when I say I have a pretty good handle on these particular facts.

I don't know that I fully believe some of the numbers of a few of those countries, and that's only 45. There were about 180 that had seen the virus last time I heard.

And? How is that less indicative of a true mortality rate?

Imagine Area A and Area B are exactly the same, same population, same number of people with COVID, same mortality - exactly identical. With one exception. Area B is testing everyone it can and area A is testing only symptomatic people. When the two sides calculate their mortality rates it'll look like the below:

Where:
Deaths_A = Deaths_B
Symptomatic+_A = Symptomatic+_B
Asymptomatic+_A = Asymptomatic+_B

Observed Mortality Rate_A = Deaths_A / (Symptomatic+_A)

Observed Mortality Rate_B = Deaths_B / Symptomatic+_B + Asymptomatic+_B)

In this instance, Observed Mortality Rate_A will ended up greater than Observed Mortality Rate_B because part of the denominator for Area A is not in the equation. It's a huge effing deal.

TLDR: If you only test the most critical patients, you miss most of the population and your mortality rates look worse than they actually are.
