Ok. Well the crash course as it pertains to this story is as follows:

SI is very powerful technology. It has tremendous potential for good. And also tremendous potential for bad. It can indeed be used as a weapon. Right now people are trying to use it to attack the financial sector. This was foreseen and foretold. In fact, I wrote a thread about this about a month ago now predicting exactly this to come BEFORE the elections. And it appears people are trying to do exactly what was predicted not only by myself, but by many others.

The problem with Ailsa's post is not that it is "doom porn", but that it frames the issue as a problem with the technology itself rather than the people who are attempting to use that technology like a weapon. Similar to a firearm. It is the mindset of a leftist who tries to blame "assault rifles" for shootings rather than the people pulling the trigger of those rifles.

Don't be like a leftist. Frame the discussion for what it is.

You’ve got Somalians with teeth growing out the side of their heads stealing billions in your face, being protected by the same people telling you that allowing third parties to access your bank account might go poorly for you as if it’s an earth shattering discovery that needs immediate government oversight.

Don’t give anything access to your bank accounts. Don’t answer phone calls from Elon musk about investment opportunities. Don’t click random things in your emails. Don’t cash odd checks you get in the mail. Don’t talk to the street monks in Vegas. You’ll navigate AI the same as all these other things

I've already given one CLE presentation on AI, Ethics, and the future and I'm thinking of getting certified as an Agentic AI Consultant/Expert

Why aren’t they using AI to defend against it?

This seems to have been overlooked by the doomers. From the way it was written, these people gave AI access to their accounts.

Don't blame AI for people making bad decisions. My company is very limited in AI use because they don't want data to accidentally get out.

AI is still in its infancy. Use some common sense before deploying it in something that matters.

Courts have already ruled that the people responsible for AI mistakes are the ones who deployed it. These people are the ones responsible for anything happening to their accounts.

This is not some rogue AI unleashed to bring about authoritarianism.

Make sure your banks are covered, monitor your expenses and don’t put over 250k in any one bank. Invest money in assets

I watched a podcast a few months ago with some banking and financial gurus and they were voicing their concerns of SI agents literally wiping out the electronic banking/financial records of a financial institution and the ensuing chaos that would surely follow.

Will it be used to claw back all the money that was fraudulently stolen?

Yes.

Just like other AI doomer articles where they tell it to do nefarious things and it does, and they go oh god we told it to search my old emails for clues about my passwords and break into my accounts, and it did!

Lol it’s even better than I thought. It’s basically goobers giving access to some “AI assistant” and saying “pay my bills and shite” and then it pays down a credit card bill more than they would like it to, because it’s the better financial move, and they go cry to the bank it’s unauthorized.

So banks are now going to rewrite their terms of service to say we ain’t playing that game with you idiots letting third party things manage your account.

Sounds like it’s 0% scary and 100% retarded misleading tweet, per usual
