You’re smart enough to realize the cartels won’t allow this to only be contained to rural and certain areas. It would quickly turn to urban warfare and a humanitarian crisis at our border. One step forward two steps back.

You know we've done that before right? They bent the knee, but we can't occupy the place. Our forays into Northern Mexico on whackamole expeditions were a total nightmare, and our shitty experience in every war since WW2 tells me it wouldn't be any better this time.

The problem is not the Mexican army or police force. The problem is that the cartels are a fairly solid military force in their own right, well equipped and trained by the Chinese and Russians .... and some members are even former U.S. Military.
Anyways, that screetching reeeing bitch of a Mexican president will more than likely be taught a lesson before all is said and done. Especially if she fails to shut down the china drug trade.

Apples and oranges. It's not the same situation at all. The cartels aren't fueled by allah and willing to blow themselves up. Sure, some are willing to fight and die if they have too, but these people are right on our borders, for one... and they're not willing to blow themselves up and sacrifice their lives like the muzzies. We're dealing with a few hundred people here, not millions in Muslim regions of the world. Sure, some will be willing to fight an die because they know if they get caught, they're in prison for life or executed anyway... but you take a couple cartel compounds and leaders out in surgical operations, they'll calm the frick down real quick.

Come on now, do you not think we know where every one of those cartel leaders are and would wipe them out simultaneously? They are as good as dead and the rest of their flunkies won't know whether wind their arse or scratch their watch.
Urban warfare and a humanitarian crisis at our border is what we have now and frankly, I just don't give a damn about them killing each other, they have been revolting against their own people for a very long time, it is what the stupid bastards do.
