Army: The Army raised its maximum enlistment age to 42 in 2006 to meet recruitment demands for the Iraq War. However, the Army reverted its age limit back to 35 on April 1, 2011.

Smart. As people age they get more mature. And more conservative

On Hitler's birthday?
Oh shite, what does the number 42 mean?

They must have been hand waving everyone in when I joined in the 90's. I had a couple of those, no high school diploma, and still got choice of MOS, first duty station, and $10,000.
Zero waivers and have a security clearance while we're at it.
They said it was because I tested well, but damn.

Definitely interesting. Perhaps in the age of the internet and more information, young people are more reluctant to sign up to be cannon fodder so a bunch of old guys can get rich.

I had a 34 year old man in my Basic and AIT in the early 1990s. We called him “Old Man”. He was older than the drill sergeants. He struggled a good bit and looked decent for his age. He worked construction before the Army. I can’t imagine doing that stuff in my late 30’s.

SFP would be trying to argue everything with the drill sergeants. He get the whole platoon smoked the entire day.

I remember it being 42 when I looked into it a few years back. When did it change to 34?
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the army age was different than navy / Air Force & this brings the army’s rules into alignment with the other branches.

Graham served in active duty for seven years and then in the reserves for 26 years.

At this point, they don't want to turn down viable candidates based on chronological age. Biological age, maybe.

I'm not a JDAM or a Tomahawk, so I can't go. Sitting two MEUs in the Gulf and a brigade or two of the 82nd in Saudi or Qatar doesn't mean they'll ever do anything. But panic away.
You dumbshit (D) created this shite through appeasement with Carter, Obama, and Biden (and every other president, tbh). Someone has to pay the piper for dumping billions in cash on them, and just pretending they'll be less bad if we're nice to them.
