US announces $215 million in new food aid to Ukraine

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that Ukraine will be getting $215 million in emergency food assistance, with more aid expected in the future.

During a United Nations meeting on global food security, Blinken noted the “greatest global food security crisis of our time” caused by factors such as the pandemic and climate, adding that the war in Ukraine has exacerbated the issue.

“Today, given the urgency of the crisis, we’re announcing another $215 million in new emergency food assistance. And we’ll do much more,” Blinken said.

Inflation rising, the market crashing, and food shortages in the US.

Glad to see that Brandon has his priorities in check...

They will do this without the authorization of Congress? I’m sure those arse clowns would approve it but at least go through the motions.

Just to be clear, they’ve increased SNAP benefits by 15% and now they’re providing money to feed Ukrainians. But if you’re like me you’ve been given a middle finger by this administration. We’re paying more for basically everything and told that tax cuts are selfish.

I budget $500 a month for groceries. That’s it for the three of us. The welfare recipients get more than that and I pay federal taxes to feed them.

I really think these people want civil unrest . Government just keeps doing everything possible to piss people off . We have enough problems here but all they keep doing is lying , gas lighting people and sending money and food to a corrupt country .

How much do we pay into the UN every year? I thought the whole point of the UN was to step in and help with these crisises. Is any other country just randomly printing money like this to send over there?

It’s almost like they are doing this on purpose- to wreck our country, to send us into a rage so that we take action. They want us to revolt so they can declare Marshall Law and act like China.
This is incorrigible. Once again, we have starving people here AND limited supplies to begin with. When you count me that with the fertilizer shortage AND the grain shortage, it’s gonna be a rough winter. This may actually be the “dark winter of death” or whatever.

The was gives them the perfect cover to twist the screws on us though. When confronted, they can act all humanitarian and say that they acted for the betterment of the world.

Where are our liberals? I want to hear them defend this administration.

I kind of think this too. They want us to snap so they can justify whatever they have in mind.

You seldom see the American public get upset about sending a bowl of porridge to war orphans and displaced mothers and old folks.

There may well be Ukraine issues where the GOP can make some hay, but this ain’t one of them.
