It doesn't matter. If enough ppl say they want the recall then whatever candidate gets the most votes wins

Arnold won with like 13% of the vote

The really crazy thing is that Larry Elder could easily be governor if the recall is successful. An African American conservative as governor of the largest and one of the most left-leaning states in the country? If nothing else, that would be a lot of fun to view from afar.

My gut feeling is that Newsom is a dead duck because he pissed off too many people in the past year

Mine too. I was in Sacramento for work in February and March and found a fantastic local political talk show there that I still listen to on my phone here every morning. Those people are absolutely fed up with Newsom. It was Republicans and Democrats alike who signed the recall petition.

Perhaps with a guy like Elder now in the race more Democrats will be even more likely to vote against retaining Newsom and then casting their vote for Elder. At least he checks one major box for them.

I'll go on the record as saying that there is zero chance he is recalled.

He’ll be re-elected. There are multiple republicans running which will split votes. Larry Elder is running ads whining about how Newsom was dining indoors while we were stuck at home. That’s his campaign. It’s a joke but he’ll get votes that could go to Cox, who Newsom beat in the last election.

Do you live in California? Your use of the word “we” indicates that you might. I hope you don’t because you have no clue how the process will work for this recall election. It is not Newsom running against a bunch of Republicans. The Newsom portion is straight up: Keep him as governor or throw him out on his arse? If you vote to throw him out you then vote for one of the other candidates. If he gets retained those other votes are moot. If he gets thrown out on his arse, which needs to happen, whoever gets the most votes of the other candidates is the governor.

I agree that California voting systems are so corrupt that a recall of Newsome is not possible, even if he was down by 10%+

But it is possible, maybe even likely, that even if Newsom gets recalled the winner to replace him is another Dem.

There are no Dems on that portion of the ballot. All Republicans, albeit a lot of them but that doesn’t matter. If Newsom is voted out the new governor will be a Republican.

GO Larry!!!

IDK. But that is usually the predominate reason for St. Tammany population growth.

I think he's safe unless he does a mask mandate or shuts down the state prior to the recall election. I think he knows this and that is why he hasn't done either one yet. But he will the day after the recall election if he wins. Bet on it.

And that is after he committed the state to pay people's rent. Imagine what the numbers would look like if he couldn't take people's money and redistribute it.
