When you factor in:

3) having to drive and walk around in unsafe areas

The pay should be good

You give yourself away as a liberal more and more every day. No one forced these people to take this job. If they drop a box on their foot, it's their own fault. I bet you supported the dumb woman who spilled coffee on herself and sued McDonald's.

Unions are a stain on our society. They are every bit as corrupt as government.

and btw, drivers for Fed Ex, Fed-Ex Freight, and Fed-Ex Custom Critical are non-union.

They're also not Fedex employees.

Ultimately UPS will contract out their routes just like FedEx. When that happens those Union jobs go bye bye…

Monetary policy.

Has been this way since the beginning of time.

But you're too ignorant to understand it.

When UPS raises its rates, and they will, millions of small to medium sized businesses will feel it. These idiots can never see the forest through the trees.

$170k to drive truck?

Edit: $170k is total compensation so not the exact same thing. I read it was like $49/hr.

Their Teamster pension is where the drivers really score. I think right now for every year worked you get $130/month so at 30 years you're damn near $4k/month. A friend of the family's retired from UPS 2 years ago with 40 years and he's doing pretty well and he retired before age 62.

I know the Teamsters Central States Pension was going tits up awhile back but with the passage of Biden's American Rescue Plan the Teamster Pension fund got around $40 billion dumped in for those union votes.

It isn’t easy. It’s more like 95$k and the rest are benefits. Some drivers make over 120$K and they kill themselves for it or have no home life.

Yeah - I have respect for those who do that work. It comes at great sacrifice by my lifestyle standards.

I’d prefer the market set pay as opposed to government tho.

The job should pay whatever it takes to staff it with competence.

Buddy of mine is a UPS driver, he makes good money, but he works his arse off…

UPS has awesome benefits, his wife is a CRNA at Ochsner, they use UPS’ benefits.

Yeah none of the politicians in bed with the ultra wealthy have anything to do with that.

We should trust the government and law makers all in bed with corporate America. They surely have nothing to do with the finical burden we face in this country.

I’m not professing to be wise homie. But hey you get to make a point on a message board and think you’re a big tuff guy.

UPS already had the highest rates. People still prefer UPS service over competitors.

Will they raise the rates more? Probably

But who doesn’t want to pay for a better service. And if you don’t that’s fine too plenty of other carriers

We would be better spent talking about fixing the USPS they worrying about UPS drivers making more than the college degrees crowd.

Government bureaucracy, corporate greed and purely evil elites more so do that.

UPS is integral to American business and economy. If they have to raise rates, everyone will feel it.

Sounds like you hate free markets. If you don’t like it build your own package delivery service.

I’m not going to dispute that.

We all feel the pain from …..pick ya industry ….

We as a country can start to fix the problems by starting with government. But that’s just me.
