University of Alabama orders faculty to keep queist about outbreak - AJC.com
quote:
Faculty in multiple departments said they received emails this week telling them not to discuss the situation in classrooms and to keep students in the dark if they became aware of anyone contracting the virus, according to an exclusive report by The Daily Beast.

E-mail originated from nsaban@bama.edu

Yeah, this seems like a hit job (but I'm not clicking the link to give them any ad revenue)

1) A copy of the actual email would be nice
2) The AJC left out some quotes from The Daily Beast that make TDB seem more balanced than the AJC. Kemp’s op-Ed was spot on.

Same thing is happening at Auburn.

Do we have a threat to cancel football season when there is a somewhat stronger variation of the flu each year? This is the direct result of arbitrary authoritarian rules.

I mean, it’s the law, so there’s that.

“For privacy reasons, the instructor should not announce to the class that a student in the class tested positive, even anonymously.”
I would like to see a copy of the email as well... If this quote is accurate it is not the same thing as telling the staff to "keep quiet"...

I have 2 kids there right now and even if this were true, it doesn't matter!
These students are getting updates every day about Covid and how to handle the outbreak. When a student is moved from the dorm with all their belongings, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they tested positive and are being moved to the Covid dorm.
Now, I get maybe the Auburn students can't figure that our, but the Alabama students got it!

What is the death rate for kids under 22 without co-morbidities? I'll panic soon. Promise.

It's interesting to post a link and/or direct article quote like this without any editorial comments from the OP (me in this case, but I've seen others do it too).
In most cases, the reader attributes whatever interpretation, prejudices, or judgments they have rolling around in their own head to the OP rather than the original content. It's fascinating to watch.

Probably not. If true, they would have the email.
