Nope! The Chinese are still engaged in slavery. All over Africa there is still slavery.

Did they give all parties involved their proper credit?
Because if they didn't, I sure fricking will and I doubt the EU will want to talk about it after that.

This is such a typical UN thing to do. Who is pro-Atlantic slave trade?...but then include some BS language obligating us to something that the US cannot agree in order to generate the headline that we won't condemn the slave trade.
These shitebags always think they are so clever for having done so.

This makes sense:
This does not make sense:
quote:
While the United States opposes the past wrongdoing of the transatlantic slave trade and all other forms of slavery, it “does not recognize a legal right to reparations for historical wrongs that were not illegal under international law at the time they occurred,” deputy U.S. ambassador Dan Negrea said before the vote.
“The United States also strongly objects to the resolution’s attempt to rank crimes against humanity in any type of hierarchy,” he said. “The assertion that some crimes against humanity are less severe than others objectively diminishes the suffering of countless victims and survivors of other atrocities throughout history.”
This does not make sense:
quote:
The resolution calls on U.N. member nations to engage in talks “on reparatory justice, including a full and formal apology, measures of restitution, compensation, rehabilitation, satisfaction, guarantees of non-repetition and changes to laws, programs and services to address racism and systemic discrimination.”
It encourages voluntary contributions to promote education on the transatlantic slave trade and asks the African Union, the Caribbean Community and the Organization of American States to collaborate with U.N. bodies and other nations “on reparatory justice and reconciliation.

I'm going to bet most of the people on the committee that came up with this resolution looked something like this

Lol @ the slave sellers voting for reparations for themselves.
Black people are allergic to being held responsible for their own behavior.

The word "slave" comes from "Slav" because the Muslims forced Eastern Europeans into mandatory servitude for centuries.

Coleman Hughes last week had a guy on that just wrote a book about the Islamic slave trade. It's a good counterpoint to this nonsense.

I mean, anyone watch Gladiator?
I dislike how all of these histrionics ignore who sold the slaves to the Europeans. Uh, African tribes who were selling their enemies they captured.
