What an intellectually dishonest critique.

Rape directly impacts another individual in a horrible way against their will.

Being gay does not.

Other than that, yeah, exactly the same.

Other than unleashing a literal 3rd world plague upon this nation with aids, they have came up with Kaposi sarcoma, new strains of HPV and colon cancer, drug resistant syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. It’s a public health problem that we have spent billions in public health funding on. You can’t even take a shite in privacy in a public bathroom because of heroin users and gays sodomizing (lots of overlap) each other if the stalls aren’t mostly in view. Give Grindr a few more years and they will have cooked up the next superbug in their Petri dish bodies. But it doesn’t affect anybody and they are just like us.

The comparison was about being able to control urges, not acting on them, doofus

Rape is a crime, specifically because everyone knows you can and should control your sexual urges. So even gay people accept that youre not born with uncontrollable sexual urges

Odd that when defining exactly what adultery was, there is no mention of lusting after another man. Seems like that would be important, ya know, if God thought man on man was OK, right?

That is factually not why rape is a crime. It's a crime because it's a forceful violent act against an unwilling victim. It's criminality has nothing to do with "controlling urges." There's plenty of depraved sexual acts one can do by themselves that could be argued as being personally harmful that aren't illegal. Why is that?

If someone was making an asinine argument that gay rape should be legal, what you're saying would be rightfully relevant. But as it stands, your comparison is completely beside the point. Rape is an action taken against someone else against their will. Being gay is not, full stop; "urges" being a total non-sequitur.

Thanks for the ad hominem though. Why is it that so many people on this board resort to name calling?

So statutory rape isn't a thing in your area, then?

My great grandmother ran away and was married at 15, yet now that would be "rape". Rape IS NOT just about force. Its about the ability to control your urges as deemed by community standards

Really? Lot of teenage "rapists" have been convicted of statutory rape, without one ounce of violence

You seem well-versed in bathroom hookup culture.

It sure is. Are we shifting the discussion to the societal age of adulthood now?

Want to talk about appropriate voting ages? When people should be allowed to drive? The legal drinking age?

Why are you moving the goalposts to age of consent now? Rape being illegal has LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO with controlling urges. If that were the case, we'd have a million other laws around gluttony and other "soft" sins that are intrinsically urge driven. But we don't.

Why is it that you're more than free to engage in any depraved sexual activity in the comfort of your private residence (either by yourself or with a willing of age partner), but can't do it in the middle of the street? Is the street suddenly a "legally required to control your urges" zone? Maybe it's because it has nothing to do with controlling the urges of your sexual proclivities and more to do with the fact that by engaging in the latter you're forcing the neighbors to be involved against their will?

Rape is illegal because it involves forcing a victim into an act against their will. That's it.

Again, this is a complete straw man and does nothing to strengthen (or even speak to) your case.

The GOP is also not fiscally conservative . They should just say " we are against abortion and socialism, otherwise we are exactly the same"
