Meanwhile, the CEOs of the companies being struck are making 399 times the average pay of the assembly line worker, around 28 million dollars a year.

They want those defined benefit retirements that are guaranteed by taxpayers.

I’m pretty sure paint is one of the largest segments of robotics in auto manufacturing.

I believe it is like 46%+.
They can kiss pensions goodbye forever. All companies have gotten rid of pensions. The baby boomers and stockholders killed the pensions for everybody.
Prices of cars have gone up faster than anything out there for year and years, including housing for the most part. IMO the bulk of these people do not have a skill but just slap parts together. it's not like they are machinist or welders that are highly skilled.
The bulk of Americans are not getting big raises each year like this for inflation and can't keep up with the rising car prices.

The UAW and the auto workers have lost their minds.
Have they?
UA pilots just got a 40% raise.
Delta just agreed to raises worth billions of dollars a year.
UPS drivers now make 171k to wear brown shorts and deliver packages.
So why not ask for a huge raise and only 32 hours a week?

Are we as mere human labor capped in earnings? Maybe wages are too low and been too low to make y'all think this. Doctors, lawyers, real estate, and bankers are 100k+. Why is it so crazy to earn 120k as an auto worker. Maybe y'all should aspire a bit higher.

Yea! No one should get paid more ever. We should be content with kinda keeping up with the reported inflation but not a penny more!

Because you can train a monkey to do the job of a lot of UAW members.

The people above could get better jobs than McDonald’s where as the UAW workers should be working at McDonald’s and robots doing the tasks they say they are “skilled” for. UPS drivers bust their asses, especially in outdoor environments, compared to these ignorant fricks who stand there all day with preset machinery.
These idiots are screwing the company, the market and consumers. frick them

Here’s one of the SMT lines (MYDATA MY12).

Nice. I have 1200+ Kuka robots in my shop. Takes a lot of people to keep them operational.

General Motors revenue for the quarter ending June 30, 2023 was $44.746B, a 25.13% increase year-over-year.
But why should the people who actually build the vehicles get anything? Let’s burn the money instead!

Because the government is forcing them to go EV. Therefore, they are moving most profits to that.

LOL....I've seen robots built that can take intricate pieces for contactor relays from a bowl feeder and weld them together and never miss a beat. Robots could be built and programmed to completely build an automobile.
Tesla uses some of the more advanced robotics systems in the automotive industry and they still have a ton of employees

Have you done any research on this, or just made a dumb emotional outburst?
Posted on 9/15/23 at 8:29 pm to TDTOM
I can see you’re angry. I wasn’t expecting such an emotional outburst in response to 4 benign words.

Knew people working at GM plant.. one friend was a custodian.. always asked why he did not want to get on the line.. he said no way .. I like the night shift.. finish stuff in about a hour and then just nap or play cards…make darn good money..and benefits back then like retirement.
They all took retirement buyouts years ago .. so how do you start a new one if you cleared out the slush fund from previous employees that was invested and grew.. also not many companies offer medical after Medicare kicks in unless govt..
Sorry …..I have no problem if this causes their jobs to go elsewhere… sounds like the corp tried to meet them at some point…
