The UAW usually includes people that push brooms, work in company cafeterias, etc.

Except they didn't, really, because the FedGov backstops pensions, whether it is the Pension Guaranty Corporation, the Railroad Retirement Board or any number of entities.

Not all, obviously, but there are plenty of non unionized plants in the south (Alabama education bad! Waaa!) which prove that the UAW isn't necessary. Nissan rejected the union in Mississippi a few years ago, because the workers were happy.

That is an arse raping, in one of the poorest, most uneducated states in the country. Turns out, they like jobs.

Why is that insane? Is it just because you’ve been led to believe that. What’s insane is having taxpayers bail these auto companies out when the mismanage funds and then not requiring to pay it back. What’s insane is paying them and then they move their companies overseas and put Americans out of work, the same Americans that’s tax Maloney bailed them
Out.

Did you know that in 2007 GM was paying pensions and healthcare to something like 5 times as many retired/former employees as they had actually working?

Did you know GM's healthcare was the #1 buyer of Viagra?

Did you know GM factory workers made something like 90% of their pay even though the plant the worked in was shut down? (All google is bringing up is the current strike so I can't find the old agreements for the exact number)

Did you know that in the industry GM was called a healthcare company that makes cars on the side?

All of the above, and far far more, was due to UAW contracts signed in the early 70s that the union refused to give anything back from when business conditions changed.

And now they want to go back to the same cushy contracts with all the bells and whistles while also working 8 hours less per week. Ford claims it would have lost $14 billion over the last 4 years with the contract the UAW wants.

There is no skill required to assemble a car. The design them to be basically idiot proof due to the people bolting them together.

You're a known stupid frick.

Because you can train a monkey to do the job of a lot of UAW members.

I watched some interviews with a few different strikers earlier today.

I think the typical monkey is more intelligent than the morons they had on camera.

And you know they talked to a few to get the best they could find for on camera.

Tesla uses some of the more advanced robotics systems in the automotive industry and they still have a ton of employees

Just read the new book on Musk.

They actually took a shitload of robots OUT of the assembly line at Fremont as it was actually faster to have humans do some of the jobs.

Some assembly jobs on a car are not conducive to automation.

Saying that, the typical assembly plant today has maybe 20% the number of employees as they did in the 70s for similar output.

Tell me again why the auto makers don’t try and move toward less human labor and more toward machines doing the assembly?

What’s the hold up on this?

Don't worry, Republicans. Democrats and Blackrock are working on this and you're gonna love what they do with it.

Your GMC is not going down in price either way.

The UAW has hated the 401K and eliminating Healthcare for retirees since Gettelfinger agreed to it at Obama's urging.....in return the UAW got like an 8% stake in GM.
