more so? I don't see anywhere in my post where I ranked anything.
I simply said as long as we allow people to drive without a license or insurance and don't arrest them and impound the vehicles, we will always have a large % of the population without insurance which is one factor of a multifactorial problem.

I was asking if you think uninsured/underinsured is the major driver in high costs compared to sue and settle.
It would help if the legis would approach the issue objectively.
I found this: Insurance Research Coucil - Louisiana

Let's go after the insurance companies, that is what we need in Louisiana less insurance companies.
If State Farm and All State could tell California they are leaving, you know they could do the same in Louisiana.

It certainly looks bad when the Governor is hunting with Gordon and finding that the Insurance companies are part of the problem. It sounds like from his skinning comment that the Insurance companies are half of the problem. Who knows what he thinks but the problem is that Insurance companies cant compete here. There was a bill for tort reform that would have capped awards last year that the Governor vetoed. I know that he has pushed numerous bills last year that didn't work in bringing down the cost of insurance and he has proposed bills this year that better work in my opinion or it will be fatal to him for any future elections. Apparently he isn't considering the bills of the commissioner of Insurance, Tim Temple, who indicated that he hasn't heard from the Governor in 10 months. Maybe because the Governor was busy hunting Turkeys with you know who. At this point, the Insurance companies have left Louisiana. No Insurance companies, no good insurance prices. The same cant be said of vehicle accident attorneys. You can find them by simply driving any road in Louisiana.

This is all to avoid addressing homeowners insurance.

I’d like to see a law proposed that if you drive and don’t have a license/insurance you forfeit the first $500k of any award.

Louisiana already has no pay no play.

AIYEEEEE I'm gone fix dis problem me! right after a big hot cup a gumbo.
But you guys know this is all scripted right? that whatever the fix is going to be has already been approved by both sides. If you know that going in it knocks down the angst level some.

As someone who has litigated on both sides of the v, I must say, Landry is 100% correct on this.
Guess who regulates insurance companies? Insurance companies. They write the regs, they run the fricking LDI and they don’t give 2 shits about the people they actually insure, to whom they owe fiduciary obligations to. . . The insurance companies basically want to invest your premiums and avoid paying claims. That’s why your premiums are so high. Seriously. frick them.
And as far as Gordon, et al goes. . .Guess who “runs” the state judiciary? Gordon and the Gang. The “elected” state judiciary condones their conduct, and in fact rewards it.
Our tort laws are fine. If you want to fix the problem - stop electing judges. Appoint them.
Insurance laws don’t protect insureds. They protect insurance companies. If you want to fix the problem of property insurance, we need to enter into some kind of reinsurance compact with hurricane states. Insurance companies basically use Gordon et al as their scapegoat so they can charge whatever TF they want.
There are very few insurers I have ever contended with - who do the right thing by the people they insure. They throw them under the bus first.
Don’t drink their a-hole koolaid

Right. And all it does is make a 15000 claim worth 30000

$100k of No Pay, No Play would have teeth but also not shift the truly catastrophically inured onto the public dime.
But I don’t think NPNP is as prevalent as some think. I think it just pisses people off.

Not really. Most district court races are local affairs so really no need to waste money, let the local guys handle that because its in their best interest have a judge they know.

Yeah this will never happen. The local powerbroker in most parishes not called Orleans and EBR is the DA and they have a big say in who runs and who doesnt. They are not giving up that power.

If you arent from there every District Court jurisdiction in Louisiana is a hellhole if you are going up against a player in that jurisdiction.

Wonderful. More finger pointing while a middle income father of 4 with 3 crappy used cars paying $900/month for insurance and then more through the nose for homeowners insurance.
Figure it out fellas

Who cares that the data shows young men are riskier drivers to insure than young females.
This is b.s. and I think insurance still does this because it has been accepted in society as fact for generations now. Probably based on studies from the 1970s. All I know is damn near every wreck I see on the side of the road involves a black female. 95% of the females on the road are openly on their cell phones. I think men are actually the safer demographic.
