In the ACLU suit, four women who bike and walk past the monument regularly — Donna Cave, Judith Lansky, Pat Piazza, and Susan Russell — say they are offended by the promotion of religion on the Capitol grounds. The lawsuit argues it is a violation of the establishment clause for the state to promote the Christian religion over others.

Sen. Jason Rapert, a preacher who sponsored legislation to allow the monument, claims it is about the historical basis of law. The ACLU lawsuit details, through Rapert's own words and those of others, who the establishment of this monument and rejection of others is in fact all about declaring primacy for the Christian religion. Funding primarily came from evangelical churches and they were prominently represented at monument unveiling. It was paid with private donations, including four security posts erected because the first one was knocked down by a driver who'd destroyed a similar monument in Oklahoma. He remains under hospitalization at the State Hospital.

Wasn't a case just like this already decided by SCOTUS in Texas?

Arkansas' monument is a replica of a display at the Texas Capitol that was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005. The court that year struck down Ten Commandments displays in two Kentucky courthouses.

Also, another link to the story.

Once the ACLU loses this one, another unhinged lib will tear it down like they did the first one. Fool intentionally drove his car into it to destroy it. Libs are a special kind of intolerant.

Fedoras like to say Christians think they are persecuted, but also think the mere sight of the ten commandments or gOD on a dollar bill is some type of oppression and ghastly reminder they live in a burdensome theocracy.

When is the left going to learn that recognition isn't promotion? And even if it were promotion, it isn't compulsion, which is what the 1st amendment was about: the government cannot force citizens to worship a certain way (or at all) or compel people not to worship according to their religious convictions.

The founding fathers recognized God and His providence and provision for this country all the time. They recognized that our rights come from Him. To think that they intended to wipe out all references to God or religion from the public square (while they openly called for prayer to God within their official government positions) is ludicrous.

The separation of church and state is within the context of the state dictating to church what it should and should not teach and what the people within the church should and should not practice within their religion.
