“Twitter has reportedly shut down all offices and removed access for security badges, telling employees offices will reopen on November 21st.

This is allegedly an effort by @elonmusk to prevent sabotage of the company. They reminded remaining employees to not speak with media.”

Apparently most of Twitter’s engineers walked today over his ultimatum.

3 months severance or commit to working long hours for a guy that makes policy changes on Twitter. Can’t say in blame them.

Seems like a sensible decision to me.

Twitter doesn't seem like the type of enterprise that requires long hours from people, in order to keep it going. Isn't it mostly a "keep it going" operation and not a "paradigm shifting" operation at this point?

When I saw this, I thought it was a move to prevent disgruntled employees from coming in and shooting the place up. I'm guessing the company Slack has more than just frustration over red staplers at this point. They are apoplectic about his changes.

If I worked there I would treat this as a start up. Put my time in and when it goes public again retire.

Probably walked because they can't screw with people if they can't get access to the tech... also, showing that twitter can run w/o any people is a great point.

It would be funny if Elon whittles it down to 4 or 5 people, including himself.

They'll walk into jobs making more than most of this board with better options and benefits. Why shouldn't they?

Tell them to learn to code. I bet most of them couldn't write a "Hello World" in any language of their choosing.

* Yeah, I can do it in at least 7 without looking up how.

Why would an outfit like twitter need thousands of engineers to keep it running?

Bad code?

*I did see a post from Musk the other day say that page requests had way too many additional requests with them. Inefficient is how it sounded from his comments.

Some, but not all. I bet many can't code and played games all day.
