Snapchat also down 5%.

Social media future isn't looking so bright, seems people may be getting tired of the constant nonsense

largest exchange-traded fund to track social-media companies tumbled on Friday, dragged lower for a second straight session by a precipitous drop in Twitter shares, which tanked following disappointing quarterly results. The Global X Social Media ETF SOCL, -4.53% lost 4.5%, building on a 3.5% drop that came on Thursday. Twitter TWTR, -19.13% plunged 19% after giving a third-quarter outlook that was below forecasts. The disappointing results followed a similarly weak report from Facebook FB, -1.63% which suffered its biggest loss ever on Thursday. Facebook extended its decline on Friday, down 1.5%, while Snap Inc. SNAP, -5.01% was off 5.7%

They must silence the sheep....You will only get your info from CNN and MSNBC. Would not be surprised if they outlaw forums like this in the future....This is what happens when one of their puppets is not elected President of America.

Social media is overvalued and a correction is long overdue.

Normally I would find this economically unfortunate, but since they are the enemy of my values, I’m good.

The benefits of the death of social media would be on par with Trump winning the election.

Too bad I don't see it happening for a long time.

Seems pretty logical for enterprises/products that once presented themselves as wide open forums of ideas for EVERYBODY, who suddenly decide to start telling huge segments of their customer base (half?), we no longer really want you to share your ideas here.

I realize there's other issues with facebook, as well, but it seems a weird 180 degree turn in their corporate purpose for both.

I spent way more time on this forum then all social media combined.

In fact, I only go on social media maybe once a day just to check up on family-related stuff.

Got tired of seeing snowflake posts about everything from Trump to people telling me why I should become a vegetarian, for the good of the earth.

Who could have predicted how difficult it is to monetize a picture of a taco taken by someone you hated in high school?

Wrong. Twitter explained it for simpletons like you. Twitter stocks didn't drop...there was simply a period of declining value in Stock price.

Was only a matter of time. They don't create anything.

Maybe people are waking up to the fact that social media has ruined more lives than "connected" people.

Message Boards, BBS, are also considered Social Media.

This is more about liberally slanted social media, social media that shadow bans Conservative voices ... and we can thank Trump for this victory as short lived as it may be.

Now, when YouTube falters, when Google takes a major hit, then we'll know that there is some momentum to this and warning shots are being fired from both users and advertisers alike.

In this country either you keep it fair and balanced or you do not survive.

I think a lot of social media companies bought-into the whole Hillary up by 50 points thing and thought socialism and far leftism had finally taken over the country.

It could prove very expensive to those companies that did.

All that's missing are viable alternatives.

Seems to me, anyone whose "life is ruined by social media" was pretty much destined to have their life ruined at some point absent that vehicle being in existence.

Normal healthy people aren't having their "lives ruined" because there's this new thing out there that wasn't there before.

I guess, maybe you could argue it's an accelerator to this ruination for some, but perhaps in some instances that could be a good thing.

I mentioned this in anther thread (maybe replying to you) but I feel like this is a mischaracterization of the beginning of social media.

I agree that Twitter and FB censor opinions that differ from theirs - no argument there. However, I don't remember any political BS on either platform at the beginning either. Now it is completely rampant. I guess my point is the censorship is addressing what is a relatively new phenomenon for those platforms, particularly Facebook.
