I agree with this in theory. Would need to see the mechanics of it. You could throw air traffic controllers into the mix as well.
Like the post office, these are serving a kind of "retail" role and should not be subject to the whims of government funding.

Some form of TSA is needed even if it's just as a deterrent.
metal detectors, discriminate and undercover officers around every plane would make the process way simpler

How about we leave it up to the individual airports to run this instead of our idiotic federal government.
A return to the good ol' days

So no X ray machines in the days of functioning synthetic guns?
Sounds safe

To stop another 9/11 literally just arm pilots
Have you looked at your pilots recently? Most are 60 plus year old Boomers who refuse to leave with huge bellies or DEI hire women. Both of those groups would be easily overwhelmed beaten and gun taken. Its like some of you don't think this through. And locked doors? Yeah those don't work either or we would never have any home invasions or carjackings.

I think eighteen is too young to remember how hijackings prior to 9/11 worked

TSA at Bush this morning
What terminal? Flying out for Easter and not looking forward to it.
Even have Pre Check and still have anxiety

Side rant since you brough it up:
I ship stuff daily, and FedEX is the best
They are cheaper across many packages and much faster
Thankfully most of the places I frequently order from (both work and personal) use FedEx as the carrier. They certainly are efficient. I just wish they'd vet their delivery drivers a little bit better. The fishing rods i order come in these incredibly rigid 8' cardboard tubes, and the dred-headed driver that brings them still manages to somehow destroy half of those tubes.
About a week ago i beat the living hell out of a raccoon on the back porch with one of those tubes and didn't damage the tube at all. Whatever that driver is doing, it's impressive.

Terminal C. It looked like a legitimate clusterfrick, but the line absolutely flew.
If they still aren't getting paid by Easter, I would expect it to be worse. Godspeed, fellow traveler.

TSA should all be fired and they can reapply as ice agents.. eliminate TSA

Better idea: abolish TSA and its ridiculous security theater charade.
