It's so ridiculous that nobody understands (or wants to acknowledge) that TRUMP's rationale for his summit with Putin was the same rationale as the summit with Kim Jong-Un. He has long been anti-war and believes that given his negotiation skills, he can work the Art of the Deal with any world leader. TRUMP thinks he can establish a good personal relationship with both Putin and Kim Jong-Un which ultimately benefits the U.S. (and the world).

TRUMP is attempting to start a dialogue with Putin and Kim where the vast majority of the Deep State, Swamp, and Establishment have said it's either not possible or are actively rooting against him so he's doing everything in his power to prove them wrong. TRUMP believes it's better attempt to talk to our adversaries than to further isolate them.

Even with this approach, the same people on the Left and GOPe who have called for diplomacy for years have since started melting since TRUMP is fulfilling his pledge to normalize U.S. - Russian relations.

The left wants war, and a collapsing economy, they think it’s the only way to beat Trump....

He thinks he can woo the leaders on a personal level which will open future dialogue with both nations to address broader issues. I think in this case the easiest explanation is the actual one.

Our "allies" are funded by the same deep state scumbags trying to take down our duly elected POTUS

The same globalist fricks that hate Putin for being a nationalist.

Pull your head out of your arse you dumb son of a bitch, we're making America great again

I believe whenever it is possible, he wants to promote peaceful coexistence between nations which can lead to increased trade and economic gain.

I don’t care if he wants to meet with Putin, but nobody should expect any concessions from Russia. I mean Putin’s power is totally dependent on an adversarial relationship with the US. Or really the “west” in a broader sense. It’s what enables him to continue to build up a military around him while less and less money goes back to his people. And they are totally ok with it because of a state controlled media that continues to blame all of their problems on the evil USA.

We are much better off continuing to pummel the Russian economy with sanctions and cheap energy.

Gotta meet the people to get to know them, you’ll never know if there’s a path towards peace if you never even meet with the leader of the country.

This outrage is typical TDS. They lost an election, the RINO’s are taking a beating and they’re throwing tantrums like two year old children.

frick all of em, MAGA

You should know. We all know. We just recently finished up 8 years with a literal apologist president.

They are all pissed off bc he’s not the type of politician they are used to. Trump’s proven time and again that he won’t just say things he doesn’t believe or just bc he’s expected to.

All you have is MSM talking points. There is no depth to your vitriol. Which makes you a scream at the sky, brainwashed idiot. Which is exactly what they want. They prepare their plan with cucks like you as pawns.

(1) I do think Trump believes he can "normalize" relations with any country and declare victory as a master negotiator, and that, on the whole, if he isn't giving away pallets of cash or nuclear secrets, this is generally a pretty good idea

(2) I think Trump knows that staying on Putin's good side can only help him if there is a coordinated info/misinfo campaign in 2020. This is certainly a smart play, but it isn't necessarily in the best interests of the country.

Unlike certain media outlets, I can consider two sides of a story.

He had some good lines about this today.

I would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace than to risk peace in pursuit of politics.

Nothing would be easier politically than to refuse to meet, to refuse to engage. But that would not accomplish anything.
