This isn't an anti Trump post..

Prices across the board have to go up. With this Trade War, everyone gets to pay. Not just the honest taxpayers, but the cheaters, the criminals that never pay, the people making money under the table and travelers around the world purchasing US products.

Tariffs are essentially a consumption tax without calling it that. Everyone has a skin in this game and not just people that are targeted based on who is in power.

It is not a tax. You have a choice to buy a product.

And yet prices haven’t gone up because we operate in a global market and can adjust our supply chains through other countries.

That's why I call it a consumption tax in a manner of speaking. You choose what you consume

ok. Good. I'd rather buy American anyway. If everyone did, American prices could go down instead of just buying cheap Chinese half-assed bullshite

the longer this goes on the worse off long term it is for China. production will slowly move out to SE asia and india. as plants retool, the cost to go back to china will be cost prohibitive.

Yep. Because labor costs in China are already higher than those other countries.

Once out no reason to go back.

That's funny, my federal withholdings on my check stub didn't change this month.

If it was across the board, surely I'd see it by now.

So, what you're saying is, that you are comfortable using the power of the federal gov't to intervene in the economy to pick the winners and losers that you approve of? How very socialist of you!

The small gov't, free market Republicans on this board are the worst.

You do realize that our Founding Fathers established a government that was funded primarily by tariffs, right?

If anything, the 16th amendment is what we should be outraged over.

A lot of the American stuff you buy has Chinese steel or components.

Trade creates wealth.

Choosing American businesses over Chinese businesses is not picking winners and losers, it is giving our businesses a competitive edge in the market. Thus employing Americans instead of the Chinese.

We have to except the fact that somethings aren't free. China is an existential threat to the long term survival of this country. China has employed surreptitious means to undermine the US for decades. DJT is the first President to ever put his foot down.

It's not really a "date" date.

They're more like friends with c*cksucking benefits.

Why are we flourishing?

When we are flourishing, why would you risk it on a trade war?
