Trump's section 301 tariffs were successful. The data proves it.

The tariffs actually drive import prices down. Some folks around here have criticized Trump's tariffs, while some may not like Trump.... the numbers don't lie.
See for yourselves. America first is the path to bringing America back. The control of the multinational corporations must be broken.

1000% correct Lake Chuck

And I’m In the Int’l trade & maritime logistics industry.

Had they not got in his way, he would have re-done the China trade deal & leveled the playing fields.

But if people will remember, in the middle of the negotiations with China, XIN got all piasy & walked away & then BOOM, the Plandemic happened.

It’s out there for liberal jackasses to see, all
They have to do Is open their eyes.

Did you read the article?

The price difference wasn't due to tariffs. It was due to currency fluctuations. The article tries to assume this was due to tariffs, but (1) it doesn't really support this argument with data and (2) actually argues against this point implicitly.

quote:

Donald Trump’s tariffs were targeted to specific sectors of imported products. [Steel, Aluminum, and a host of smaller sectors etc.] However, when the EU and China responded by devaluing their currency, that approach hit all products imported, not just the tariff goods.

Because the EU and China were driving up the value of the dollar, everything we were importing became cheaper. Not just imports from Europe and China, but actually imports from everywhere. All imports were entering the U.S. at substantially lower prices.

This meant when we imported products, we were also importing deflation.

This is amazing.

The reason you dipshits wanted tariffs is because import prices were too low.

So Donny's central planning just lowered them more.

Evidently it lowers prices abroad so they can better compete.

Thanks Don for the cheaper Chinese products

Ummm....prices being low was not the reason we wanted tariffs. We wanted them to offset a huge trade deficit that has been going on since Moby Dick was a minnow.

bullshite.

The tariffs did exactly what you people were warned. Markets adjust, we told you import prices would fall.

All you people did was tax the American consumer, while American markets were propped up, and importers learned to adjust.

Socialism (central economic planning) does not work. There will be market (legit or black market) options to overcome your controls.

Central planning (like your tariffs) create market opportunity because they are inefficient and fail to meet the needs of people.

We told you markets would adjust to tariffs. They just created more competition for American consumers.

Thanks Donny!

If this is actually true you could get rid of all other taxes and just fund the government using tariffs. We could fund the government and have cheaper import prices.

But it isn't true.

Based on that article, it seems Mexico is the one country who benefited from the tariffs

They would rather we install NAFTA and GATT so we could be in a trade deficit until the world ends.
