Well because we've recovered 10% from the great decline in the late 2000's. Add in the booming DJIA over the past 9 years and Trump has incredibly lucky timing. If he gets corporate tax reduction through the sky may be the limit.

I hope you campaign for a GOP candidate. They are almost all better than the Dem prospects.

Come on. You must maintain calm and rationality at all times. You can't expect Trump to have the same personality and temperament as the finest military officers you and I have ever seen. Trump is not from that world. You and I both know that Trump would not have been a great military officer.

The stability of this Republic must be maintained and we must focus on that. Trump is not a long term threat to that. There is no immediate threat to the stability of this Republic -- there are only long-term threats, IMHO.

If Mueller is really unlike what I believe in him to be, then he is totally committed to destroying Trump by any means necessary. If this hypothetical is true, then I say THIS attitude towards Trump is destructive to the long term stability of this Republic.

You are committed to the long-term stability and health of the the USA and the Republic. So am I. Let's focus on that as best we can.

Don't forget that some of Mueller's team worked on the Enron prosecutions. MOST of those convictions were Overturned on appeal.

The convictions were overturned because of faulty jury charges, not because of lack of evidence.

The point I'm making is one that we should all care about. We do not want our prosecutors to have a "convict and win at all costs" mentality. We don't want our prosecutors to have a grudge against the accused strong enough to risk a future reversal on appeal just to get the conviction today.

Why were the jury charges faulty? That's the prosecutor's job. The PROSECUTOR must ensure that the judge doesn't screw up the case on appeal. The judge shares this obligation.

Perhaps the US Attorney's Office prosecuting the Enron cases was so very motivated by hate that they risked a future reversal on appeal just to get a slam dunk conviction today using faulty jury charges?

Perhaps some future Special Counsel might be so motivated to Oust an Orange Outsider POTUS that they will risk a future reversal on appeal to get a conviction today. After all, it will be YEARS until the case is decided on appeal and the Targeted Political Enemy of Leftist State will be long gone from office by then.

That's my point, Mr. Lead Head.

Well, knowing Frederick Douglass is dead and that there's no country called Nambia would put him ahead of Trump, so I'm guessing he's in good shape.

If the economy is doing well, he will be reelected relatively easily. If not, he's in for trouble.

Its hard to know how the jury charges in Enron got through without seeing what position the defense had taken. But, the faulty jury charge dealt with intent and was pretty clearly wrong.

I think political motivation of prosecutors may have an effect on their action during prosecution, but I believe self interest is even a bigger factor, especially with Federal prosecutors. They get noticed by big name convictions, which move them up in the ranks and also feed the political ambitions that many of them have (e.g., Chris Christie).

There's no doubt that they have fired almost all of their proverbial bullets at Trump already with none injuring him. That won't leave them anything new the second time around.

I doubt if he isn't re-elected. Democrats got no one and Republicans hate almost all GOP candidates as much as they do democrats. There is nothing he can say or do to desarbleize the 30% base. He is correct about killing folks and it not mattering. All he needs is 15% of Republicans and moderates not counted in that 30% and he is re-elected.

I also highly doubt the house changes significantly in 2018. I do, however, think that Democrats start to make inroads into local and state elections as the GOP did. That's where the power in politics resides. Win enough local races and you start flipping state legislatures, governorships and finally national elections. It takes 12 years or so but that is what it takes to be in power in the US. The rift in the GOP is real and has not been remotely healed.
