The fact people actually think fighting to end the slaughter of the unborn is killing the Republican Party and then lamenting it like it’s a bad thing is sad and hysterical

It’s not foolish it’s his true colors. He is a globalist

I seriously believe the abortion issue will doom the Republicans again.

Yeah because they don’t have the balls to say it’s wrong no matter what

Does Trump think that the dems will forget that Trump appointed half of the SCOTUS justices that overturned Roe V Wade? Democrats will never make a deal with Trump on abortion.

Trump is a new world order globalist. He lied to get votes but his actions show what he really is about

Abortion is NOT a federal issue. Congress cannot pass a 15 week ban. Therefore the president cannot sign a 15 week ban.
However a GOVERNOR can sign it because abortion is a state issue. Governor DeSantis can sign any bill that the Florida legislature passes.

It's a state issue now you god-damned morons. What part of that don't you understand? We all wanted Roe v Wade overturned. Trump did it. Shut the frick up and move one. Take it up it with your state legislatures if you want to ban abortion in your state. Do you not understand that giving the federal government this kind of power is a dangerous game? That would just give the liberals precedent the next time they are in control.
Have you followed the past 100 years? There aren't meaningful limits to federal power anymore. Liberals don't wait for conservatives' "permission" before expanding the federal government.
Unilateral disarmament won't work.

I’m no lawyer, but I think that what Dobbs meant is that the States Could pass their own laws regarding abortion. It did not say that the Feds couldn’t do that, it just said that a specific law had to be passed, and that a law could not be made out of whole cloth from some clause in the constitution.
I believe that in such a case, a Federal law would outrank a State law, that is why people like DeSantis and Haley are saying don’t do this on a Federal level, because the Dems will come back to power and federalize abortion on demand.

I am wholeheartedly against abortion. But at this point in my life, it’s clear to me that it is not something that can be effectively legislated
It could easily be like any other laws against murder it just isn’t because the DNC makes a fortune off of it. Same people are also invested in killing the elderly. It’s eugenics

Lot of MAGAts who love calling others RINO now are telling me that the abortion issue is nuanced and complicated.

The Supreme Court said that the Supreme Court can't create the right and it was up to Congress to act. So it's still potentially a federal issue.
This is my understanding. The decision didn't say federal legislation would be unconstitutional.
People are in error b/c they don't know what Roe actually said.
Roe limited what state laws could do with abortion on the basis of the (erroneous) claim that abortion is a constitutionally protected right.
Once struck down, it doesn't mean that only states can pass legislation prohibiting abortion, it just means that states can, whereas the previous ruling disallowed them from doing so.
No one ever claimed that regulating abortion was a constitutional power that must reside with states since it wasn't enumerated in the constitution, which is what many seem to be arguing.
As far as I can see there is no reason why someone couldn't pass a federal law prohibiting it. Of course, enforcing it would be a completely different matter, much like the non-enforcement of federal laws prohibiting the use of weed in many states now.

Trump is the single person most responsible for reversing Roe v. Wade. Abotion isn't a federal issue now, nor should it ever have been.

I watched the entire clip. The man can’t give a straight answer, won’t say whether he’s in favor of a federal ban, and threw pro-life governors under the bus.

Abortion is killing republicans. He’s smart not to get hung up on the abortion issue.
What’s funny is everyone who hates abortion would also hate it if thousands of poor, ignorant, likely democrat-voting women with no fathers had babies each month destined to grow up and be dependent on the government’s teat.
The best thing any Republican can do is stop government spending on abortion, encourage alternatives, and never outlaw it except for late term. If you can’t understand this, you’re a religious wacko who can’t see the truth.
We had legal abortion everywhere for 50 years because of Supreme Court decisions. How did that work out? How was the country improved? Even if you don't believe that abortion is wrong, the idea that it improved society is laughable. The abortion-reduces-crime theory has been called in doubt (see, e.g., here and here). Out of wedlock childbearing has increased since abortion was legalized. And the states with the highest abortion rates (blue states) have not changed politically at all; they have actually become more liberal.
