Here we go...
quote:
President Trump posted a warning to these far-left donors: George Soros, Bill and Melinda Gates, Google, Apple, Visa, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, WellsFargo, Bank of America, Walmart, Toyota, T-Mobile, and NBC Universal. Foreign support includes the Embassy of Japan, the Korea Foundation, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (Taiwan), and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.
These organizations, individuals, organizations and countries fund the Center for American progress.
Major known funders:
Foundations (the largest and most consistent category):
* Sandler Foundation (Herb and Marion Sandler) — one of the biggest long-term supporters, with tens of millions over CAP’s history and multi-million-dollar grants in recent years. (influencewatch.org)
* Open Society Foundations / Foundation to Promote Open Society (George Soros-linked).
* Fidelity Investments Charitable Gift Fund (a donor-advised fund that has channeled very large sums).
* Freedom Together Foundation (formerly associated with JPB Foundation grants).
* Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
* Ford Foundation.
* William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
* Carnegie Corporation of New York.
* Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
* Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Others that have given substantial amounts include the Walton Family Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, Heising-Simons Foundation, Sequoia Climate Foundation, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and Wellspring Philanthropic Fund.
Individuals (historically prominent):
* George Soros,
* Peter Lewis,
* Steve Bing,
* Herb and Marion Sandler,
and various Democratic donors and bundlers.
Many large gifts now flow through donor-advised funds or foundations rather than appearing as personal names.
Labor unions:
* AFSCME,
* SEIU,
* American Federation of Teachers,
* AFL-CIO, and
* National Education Association have all given, typically in the low-to-mid six figures in disclosed years.
Corporations: CAP has a “Business Alliance” membership program. Past disclosed corporate supporters have included:
* Walmart,
* Citigroup,
* Google,
* Apple,
* Microsoft,
* Bank of America,
* Goldman Sachs,
* Comcast/NBCUniversal,
* Northrop Grumman, and others.
Corporate money has always been a small slice of the budget.
Foreign governments (small and limited): Past gifts have come from the
* Embassy of the United Arab Emirates,
* Embassy of Japan,
* Korea Foundation, and
* Taiwan’s TECRO. These remain a tiny fraction of revenue.
Related entityThe affiliated 501(c)(4) Center for American Progress Action Fund is funded in large part by transfers from CAP itself, plus groups such as the Sixteen Thirty Fund (part of the Arabella Advisors network), Open Society Policy Center, and some of the same unions.
CAP’s annual revenue has been in the $37–50 million range in recent years (expenses often similar or slightly higher). Detailed current donor lists are no longer published by the organization, so the most complete picture comes from IRS Form 990 filings, foundation grant databases, and older honor rolls.
Eric Daughtery reported on Trump’s warning against lying Democrats and their far-left donors. This could get interesting!
