IF Republican Senators actually wanted to effect change in the federal government, they could:

* Let Trump and Russ Vought make sweeping program cuts and drastic RIFs to downsize government agencies. Send out 60 day RIF notices.

* Pass the Pay Our Troops Act of 2026 when the House comes back in session on October 7. This ensures the military will continue getting paid, eliminating one of the main talking points against government shutdown.

* Once those cuts have been made, use the nuclear option to eliminate the 60 vote filibuster.

* Pass the CR with a simple majority and re-open government.

* RIF 60 day notices are still pending. Those RIF plans can be revised if Dems want to participate in good faith budget negotiations, or if they want to continue to advocate for outrageous demands, they can be the reason large numbers of federal workers lose their jobs right before Christmas.

This would require at least 51 Republicans to play ball on the nuclear option and CR vote though, and history shows at least a few will wimp out.

It's worth noting that one of the key goals of the Ds in this case is to hope that this drags on long enough that ICE, National Guard & associated military personnel let go of the rope and say "frick this, we're not following orders if we're not getting paid."

Now - you and I know that they all get back pay, beginning from Oct. 1, but the unspoken intent is to get ICE & the MIL at odds with the administration. It makes me wonder if there's some sort of civil unrest push in the cards where they don't want to tangle with the NG/USMC.

This is doubly true now that Trantifa is designated as a terrorist organization.

Murk, Collins and a few others are wholly unreliable and may as well not even be counted among the Republicans.

While muh epstein and accusations of trying to change the muh epstein subject were hurled out. No one saw this coming. Some here that follow tCTH did for a few weeks.

Slide this to the beginning. Watch the media implode that they were had.

Dear Diplomat Flats et al....Trump would have never used the vernacular of project 2025 before the deal was done...

It is fascinating watching the MSM MSNBC broad brush paint this as if those wanting the govt beast slashed as it best can be at this time---- are the bad guys.

Common sense Americans are now represented as the bad guys----just because they think and know America is exceptional. Then the media throws the white race card in like only the devil would do...

This needs it's own thread...

Chuck Schumer claims NY Times poll is biased against Democrats, laughter ensues.

All this supposed leverage is going to be used to pass an actual budget with real spending cuts, right? The federal workforce cost is relative peanuts in terms of the big picture

It's not about money. It's about removing employees who don't share Trump’s agenda.

1. Don't choose illegals over Americans.
2. Don't try and undo tax cuts.
3. Don't try to add $1.5 Trillion in new debt.
4. Don't promote crime, ignore victims and don't mess with Ice and other law enforcement.
5. Quit trying to indoctrinate children and students with Transgender, climate change and other senseless nonsense.

And don't shut down the government or you can expect the Reaper.

I consider myself a pretty intelligent person, lucky overachiever in life as well, a pretty high IQ well used…. but Holy frick the level of genius in these tweets, is on another fricking level of savagery and honesty with the likes of which we’ve never seen in political history.
Bravo you brilliant savage orange bastard…
