I have read a lot of crap on this board, but you win the prize.

This applied to Reagan. It doesn’t to Trump because:

- He has called for the suspension of debt ceiling and passing of CRs of Biden’s budgets multiple times. He advocated for suspending the debt ceiling during Biden’s term. There’s no denying Trump approves of the spending and the debt incurred.

- In his first term he wanted an “infrastructure bill” bigger than Biden got. He called for more spending during COVID than even Pelosi would support. He backed the BBB, that without mythical future cuts (that won’t happen) will add significantly to the debt and deficit in perpetuity.

- He now wants to add almost $750 billion per year in new defense spending. Every dollar of rich will have to be borrowed.

- Trump has worked tirelessly to get rid of any republicans in Congress that haven’t supported him outspending Biden.

To try to reframe this as “Trump is a victim of Congress” is absolute silliness.

C'mon man. Congress simply over-rides his veto.

This is oddly stated. The article says countries we have a deficit with.

Your infatuation and scapegoating is duly noted. Amazying how Trump is spending because it's forced on him, yet somehow he's the victim of congresmen voting against his spending. Trump is the biggest victim in American political history. Apparently.

That is t true. But I understand why you want to make the bogeyman As usual you can only ad hominem as a deflection. It’s kinda sad. And even if it was just Massie… my point would remain true… Trump worked to eliminate spending opponents from Congress. He’s done so since the end of this first term.

Triump isn’t the victim here. He sure as hell isn’t a victim of Massie. If Trump is against spending… how could he possibly be a victim of the guy opposing spending?

Cutting interest rates isn't enough. We need to threaten military invasion on any country that sells US Bonds. Starting with Norway.

Makes sense. Sanders is the left wing Populist version of Trump. At some point, their ideas converge.

The strategy seems to be not only to grow our way out of debt but increase inflation to also get out of debt.

That’s a great approach for billionaires who live off of debt, not so much for people with stagnant salaries living paycheck to paycheck

The above was an actual post made by one of the diehard Trumpian Mensas. They’re straight up Marxist.

At some point there can either be 2 realities here. They are either 1) so loyal to Trump they’d commmit suicide before admitting they were wrong or 2) they are disaffected marxists that have somehow usurped political power in the R party by masquerading as conservatives on a few social issues.

JJ has been arguing to abandon freedom/capitalism and adopt government intervention and a planned economy for years. He used to be more deceptive about it but I'm glad he's out in the open as a freedom-hating economic leftist.

This is only the surface. The more important aspect of the in/out dynamic here would be something more like "We became incredibly irrational and angry watching the out group (DEMs) get to use government to help their team, so now that we have power we want to use government to help our team". It's more about how they believe they are due the spoils of the public purse and spin their hypocrisy as the legitimate use of the government. The loyalty to Trump just appears in HOW they want to engage in this hypocrisy.
