Hate to say it, but Mitch ate Trump's lunch for four years. Treated him like a useful idiot and navigated through another reelection. He's evil and the GOP, Senate, and country would be better off without him, but it was a masterclass to leak that he would vote to acquit so others would fall in line and Trump would avoid conviction. The pivot after the vote unfortunately was necessary because Mitch knows the Trump formula cannot be replicated and serve as a strategy for the midterms. Trump needs to rise above it for the good of America. The stakes are too high.

I already asked this a page back, but I'll have to ask again:

Do you believe the GOP has better chance of retaking either/both the House and Senate with or without Trump?

Agreed. Mitch played Trump for his term. I wish Trump wouldn't have torched him like that, unless he has really good info about the "insurrection" being a setup or something.

I said this yesterday: It doesn't matter how fricking insane you folks are for Donald Trump. You're outnumbered.

Trump was fresh blood. But at least you don't have to read mean tweets while you're sipping your soy latte.

As opposed to the same candidate flat out telling all of you that he frickin' owns you and that you'll vote for him no matter what he does?

I would never vote for someone who said that shite.

You wouldn't say that the Republican party has better chance of winning with Trump than without? Especially in the short term, say, 4 to 8 years??

The GOP needs to distance itself from Trump and find a 2024 candidate who will appeal to the entire Republican base and independents. That ain't Trump. I don't know who the hell it might be, but that's what the GOP needs.

You dont get it.

You wont vote for a guy who hyperbolically talks about his voters but gets stuff done for the people.

Forget the noise and look at results.

Instead we have a guy in the White House barely conscious and who says if you dont vote for me you arent black. What a slap in the face.

GOP has to go MAGA route or they are done. They need fighters that fight great for the PEOPLE.

On the whole? Yeah, I think it’s a non-brainer the GOP does better in the midterms without Trump turning the primaries into an intra-party civil war. There will be a quite a few republican nominees that simply won’t be electable in a general election.

Fair enough. Personally, I think he continues to wield plenty of political power to make or break any number of individual elections. Make or break both in terms of Republican primaries for various seats, as well as general elections.

**Additionally, it could seriously hurt Republican voter turnout if it becomes apparent that the right is attempting to block Trump out of participation.

Are you sure? Trump knows damn well he can say and do whatever he wants and his base will never leave him. It's disturbing.

That’s why I said “on the whole.” He certainly has the stroke to be a kingmaker and essentially pick the GOP nominee in a number of races. But his horses may only win in generals that will go Repub no matter what. A glorious MAGA third party will not rise from this. The Dems will be the primary beneficiaries.

This is not exactly correct. The Republican Party could replicate the “Trump strategy” IF IT ACTUALLY WANTED TO DO SO. Problem is, snakes like McConnell see that as to their personal detriment and are doing everything they can to quash it.

I think Nancy and Mitch will continue to push the capitol storm to paint them as solely Trump supporters. Had that incident not occurred trump would have a shite ton of ammo to go after the GOP on.

I think trump needs to be super diligent and wise who he endorses and backs. If he keeps back MTG the media and GOPe will have a field day.

I'm not saying she's bad I'm stating th media obviously is itching to paid Trump people in the worst way imaginable.

I couldn’t disagree more. Can the policy objectives continue to be pursued? Yes. But there’s no substitute for Trump. Many will try to emulate him. All of them will fail.

Mitch McConnell was a GOP officeholder when this huckster was a registered Dem, partying with the Clintons.

You’d have to be a fool to think the worst of the Capitol situation was caused by MAGA patriots. I recognize a false flag when I see one. Only reason Trump lost the election was the virus. I know 3D chess is an overused phrase, but it may apply here. I have a theory Trump is pretending to torch the GOP because it’s the only way the deep state will allow him to stay out of an orange jump suit. Wait for the statute to run and then, bam!, he’s back and stronger than ever.
