It’s the art of the deal
Like anything else, the devil is always in the details. Some folks will see Trump back off of a dealine and immediately think TACO while some will see it as masterful negotiating. The key really isn't in the deadline moving at all, the key is what happened to move it. If you give a deadline AND get what you want, you've won the exchange. If you give a deadline and you DO NOT get what you want, then clearly you've lost the exchange.
Problem is that most folks already have their mind made up on how they're going to interpret things and won't dig into the nuance before giving their opinion which these days, most often gets presented as a fact.

The people arent gonna rise up unless we knock out the IRGC and that will require a full scale ground invasion
I don't disagree, but I'm also not the admin pretending we don't have to invade or the NPCs parroting that talking point

As opposed to the ground invasion we're about to launch?
This is why these conflicts are quagmires and should be avoided.
Now we have no good options and the admin has backed us into that corner.

Which is why they'll back off and bend the knee, much to the chagrin of their allies, our resident leftards (SFT, etc)
They backed off so much they struck a major oil refinery in Haifa overnight.

We need to get past the TACO BS and being alpha and winning the exchange. Some real diplomacy is needed right now.

We have been given like 10 different goals and that is one of them.

Our goal is to remove the threat.
So we will have to invade Iran. Why blow up Kharg Island if we have to invade anyway?

The mullahs don't care about anything but their relationship with Satan.
May as well do it now.

If I had faith that your analogy was representative of what was happening in Iran, sure, I'd be happy. The constant changing course and bluster makes me believe that isn't the case, though. Talks were going well, but we're going to bomb your power plants, but a deal is coming soon, but we're going to destroy Kharg Island. We're getting a "gift" of Iran not indiscriminately bombing ships in the strait, but we're in complete control. It's especially important to have a good grip on the optics in asymmetrical warfare like this. Loudly announcing what you're going to do then allowing the IRGC to control the narrative (or give the appearance of such) is a loss.
I think you bring up a fair point which is that Trump speaks in ways that don't help him sometimes. I think even the biggest Trump supporter would have to admit that Trump uses too much inexact language and hyperbole and it leaves way too much room for interpretation.
The key is going to come in the results which none of us know how this is going to play out even if we all claim that we do. I've seen evertyhing on this board from "Trump is a russian agent" to "Trump is Bibi's bitch" to "Trump is compromised by Epstein and Israel has the goods" to "Trump is playing 8D chess" to "Israel has no influence" and every single poster who has given one of those opinions has presented them as being undeniably factual. Truth is, none of us really know and we'll have to see how it all plays out.

We were never going to kill everyone in the IRGC, so how else were we going to “remove the threat”?
We can bomb them and cripple the military (maybe), but unless someone else takes charge, how do you remove the threat?

It has little to do with the mullahs. They’re just the tools of the real militant power in Iran
Posted on 3/30/26 at 9:34 am to LSUbest
The mullahs aren’t the real power…

Yeah.... Trump just talks shite. He hasn't taken any actions, anywhere in the world!
All he's done is talk shite! Lol.
Try harder...
If he's only talked shite, what are all you Marxist Dems crying about?

Well Trump said he wanted them to rise up:
Then we said we wanted regime change:
Youtube Link
Now we say none of those things are strategic goals and you say
The messaging on this is like something from a daily show satire montage and getting angry while telling us things they're on video saying didn't happen just makes them look delusional and incompetent.

That poster even used "art of the deal" unironically ITT and didn't realize the larger context

This is Trump's problem - he threatens to do things and never does them and keeps 'extending' deadlines etc.
Either blow it the frick up or say nothing
Have you considered that SOMETIMES when he makes a threat the folks being threatened respond in such a way that Trump no longer needs to carry out the threat.
People complained that Biden didn't speak enough to the nation, now complain that Trump talks too much!!!
Lol
