when has Trump ever been accused of being "small government"?
he's basically Bill Clinton

“It’s not fair that in the last 24 hours, Trump and his cabinet has generated more goodwill between the White House and black colleges than Obama was disinclined to even feign in three commencement speeches and eight national HBCU week conferences?—?none of which he attended,” Carter Jr. wrote on Saturday.

All we know is that trump allegedly has an EO that has to do with HBCUs. There is nothing to talk about.

Why is it not fair?
Crappy quote from the crappy original article. The jist is basically that it's unfair that it took so many decades for a President to finally pay attention to HBCU's (especially after just having 8 years under a President who is black).
quote:
It’s not fair that even if Trump creates a windfall for HBCUs, that it still may not be enough to effectively chip away at the damage of underfunding, biased media coverage and neglect over the course of years.
HBCUs need and want Trump’s support. Trump wants and needs to earn the support of Black America. And in the scope of American political culture, we may never see stranger bedfellows generate a more positive outcome for the nation’s history of race relations and minority progress.
But given from whence we’ve come over the last 152 years since the abolition of slavery, 53 years since the passage of the Civil Rights Act, eight years since Obama’s first historic election, and the 48 hours since Trump threw open the White House doors on HBCU engagement, none of this seems fair.
It never has and never will. But fair or not, we need this now more than ever.
THIS is what's wrong with America, this sense of entitlement. You spend years trying to get something, you finally get it and instead of being thankful the attitude is "it's about fricking time and it's better than nothing". Talk about turning a positive into a negative.

Jarrett Carter Jr., an HBCU advocate, wrote on HBCU Digest that Trump might be able to accomplish more in regards to higher education for black students than President Obama was able to do during his entire tenure.
Able or just didn't do?

i know this may sound shocking for some liberal-leaning people, but conservatives sometimes support people and not ideas

How long before liberals label this as "academic hot sauce" thereby admitting their double standards?
Posted on 2/8/17 at 10:38 am to Vacherie Saint
it's certainly going to be interesting
if Trump really does open up the gravy train for minority causes, will their values/political identification trump their desire for money?

The fear from the left on this is great.
If blacks in this country finally realize you and your ilk have been using them as a political tool for decades, your party is close to being done.
I love this reaction. LOVE IT.

Are you really suggesting that African Americans would work against their own self-interest to make a point? That's asinine. It may not make a difference in how they vote, but they will certainly take the help.

a tweet from Trump saying he's going to take UC-Berkeley funding and pump it into HBCUs would be incredible

i have no idea. i'm sure some would and some would not
it would just be amazing to watch a GOP President do this so blatantly
again, a "hot sauce" moment

I think as much as Jindal put all of his eggs into the presidential race basket, a big part of his last term was realizing that shite just won't change here.
