Donald Trump is reportedly planning a fundraising dinner at Mar-a-Lago to pull in cash for the co-defendants in four criminal cases against him. Sources cited by The Messenger on Thursday said a date has not yet been set for the planned candlelight dinner, but the former president’s sons are expected to be on hand for the event. It’s expected to raise between $500,000 and $1 million for the Patriot Legal Defense Fund, a fund set up by Trump’s team to cover legal bills for his allies who became defendants or witnesses in the cases against him. “The fact is that the Department of Justice is trying to bankrupt people and make them drown under legal bills, but Donald Trump is not going to let them,” an unnamed Trump official was quoted telling The Messenger.

I don't know why I find the "candlelight" aspect amusing, but I do for some reason.

I wonder how much Mar A Lago will charge for the rent, food, and staffing for the event.

1 million is the goal, they will accept more but they understand that enthusiasm may be a problem. My view would be for Trump to get that presidency at all costs because of his love of country or as some believe his big arse ego, by using and acknowledging to the public he’s using his actual money. That would go a long long way

I don't believe people on SS can afford a dinner at MAL. That's not really the target audience.

This isn't a good look for Trump. I'm surprised you posted it.

You criticize him for not helping his co-defendants. Now you criticize him for helping his co-defendants. Nope. You’re not a dem…at all.

If it’s below market rate will you still feign outrage?

Its hilarious....but not surprised to see the usual suspects. As if he is asking the regular joe for money like Oprah did, instead of asking the wealthy to help like they are doing here.

I remember a caller into the Hugh Hewitt Show a bit back, after one of the indictments, that said he was pro-Desantis, but asked Hugh to let his listeners know when a fund to help Trump with legal support as he doesn't want to help his campaign but will for his legal fees to fight this anti-American garbage. That was a legit respectful approach to this, instead the ronbots and their comrades on here celebrate this nonsense.

Yes, he’s accepting voluntary donations because it would be illegal for him to use his own money.
