The Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) chairman, Rep. Jim Banks (R-ID), and members of the caucus’s leadership conferred with Trump about the committee’s strategy for immigration and election integrity.

quote:

“We talked for most of the time about the work that the Republican Study Committee is doing to define the agenda for the future course of the Republican Party, which is fighting for the Trump agenda,” Banks told the New York Post. “We talked about our election integrity bill, The Save Democracy Act, which he was very supportive of and we talked about what we’ve done to define immigration moving forward.”

“We spent nearly two hours with the President with President Trump who’s in great spirits,” Banks continued.

“We believe we take back the majority by focusing on the Trump agenda, and President Trump plays a big role in that,” Banks continued. “He’s obviously planning to go out and hit the road and campaign for candidates who share our vision, and we were excited to talk to him about that.”

“I can say that members of our group are very encouraging, and if not encouraging him to run in 2024, encouraging him to continue to communicate with American people and engage with the American people,” he said.

“According to one source in the room, Trump referred to the Indiana Republican as the ‘new type of leader we need in the party,'” the Post reported.

quote:

the RSC is “build a new conservative agenda.”

“What do I mean by that? A consensus conservative agenda that Republicans can rally around to refocus us again on the issues,” he began to define. “At the same [time], we have to recognize we are at a new moment in American politics where the traditional conservative platform of the Republican Party is shifting. It’s changing.”

“So it’s a recognition of the moment that the traditional Reagan-era platform of the Republican Party has to adapt to what we’ve learned in the Trump era,” he added.

I'm liking the idea of a 21st Century version of Newt's 1994 Contract With America that everyone can get on board with as a group like those guys did then.

I wish there was still somebody as smart as Newt on the GOP House side. Maybe that person is there and I just don't see it, but I don't see it.

Trump needs to run for Congress in Florida and, when he wins his seat and Republicans regain the majority in the House, he needs to be elected to Speaker of the House.

Why the frick are we continuing to embrace a loser? We should like guys who win, not guys who lose to a corpse with dementia and surround themselves with conspiracy nuts who actively encouraged a boycott of the GA runoff, putting us at the mercy of Manchin not siding with his crackpot party. He can frick off in 2024 also. He'll lose. We need to get behind someone who can actually win and isn't a jackass, like Ron DeSantis.

The second he gets involved in these races Dems will run ads tying the Republican candidates to him and it will anger and mobilize the suburban wine moms, who would otherwise be complacent in a mid-term where there guy is President, to get out and vote for the Dems.

Trump lost his re-election and now will not go away. Democrats will win the mid-terms Bigly with Trump still in the mix. The American voters did not elect Joe Biden, they voted Trump out. If Trump would go away, the Republicans would win big.

Plotting the path to the White House is simple. Take control of the rigged voting machines. It's that simple.

Exactly, which is why people in the party need to tell Trump to frick off. Democrats WANT him involved in the mid-terms and want him to get behind nutjob candidates who promote conspiracy theories because it mobilizes their voters (suburban wine moms and woke millennials) to not be complacent and vote.

Again, WHY THE FRICK are we embracing this loser? He's a dumbass who fricked up an easy election and he can't win going forward. It's fricking embarrassing and reminds me of how the Dems idolized Hillary after she had lost.

If we told him to frick off and shut up and get behind a candidate who can actually win, like DeSantis, not only would we take back the Senate and House in 2022 but we'd win the WH in 2024.

Why is this group of GOP Congressional leadership conferring with Trump and taking this particular approach?? I couldn't say, you'd have to ask them directly. But don't be surprised if they are basing their actions on info and insight that neither you nor I are privy to.
