A former major donor explained to me that it only gets you access to pitch ideas. It doesn't give you anything else. Politicians are swayed by public polls. Most politicians are as ignorant AF, and that's both sides.

Yes you do. The addition is privately funded. If you have to lie to make a point, you do not have a point.
Posted on 2/3/26 at 4:02 pm to Ailsa
100% funded by private donations. This is something that all presidents over the past 60 or 70 years as wanted, but did not have the means to accomplish. It’s been embarrassing for the greatest country on earth to have banquets and state dinners in a circus tent. Trump definitely knows how to get things done.

"There are MILLIONS of poor, hungry, AND homeless people in the USA; Trump wants to waste our money on this?"
He should also mint another Trump Gold Coin. With a Middle-Finger and motto, "LET THEM EAT CAKE."

i'm sure i'll get roasted for this but if you haven't seen jimmy carter:rock n roll president you should check it out. the soundtrack alone is worth it. dim the lights and put on some allman brothers!

What if Obama did this?
Obama did EXACTLY this except he sent the bill to AMERICAN TAX PAYERS you fricking, dweeb. He pushed through a $400 million reno at our expense and cited "aging infrastructure, heating units, etc., from a Bush report.
Trump is building the single most functional addition the White House has ever seen and lefty loons are losing their shite because they're trash. Just like the fricking temporary tent we've had to use for years to host anything worth a shite on those grounds.
Grow up, dipshit.

Is there a complete donation list?
And IF it's the case, how do we know whether there are expressed quid pro quo attachments?

"State Dinners" are held in banquet halls for an appropriately sized venue and invitees. This isn't France. We don't need our version of the Louvre Palace. And reminder: Donald Trump is NOT a King.

You’d be irate
Basically, it doesn't matter who funds it, you're against it. Just a hater then.

Nah
Never been a hater
I voted for trump but I don’t coddle him like you and other “yes” men. I see as clearly as I can and when I don’t like something, I express it.
I also don’t like trumps sons working crypto deals with middle eastern sheiks investing hundreds of millions in Liberty Financial…
I also didn’t like Biden’s loser son enriching himself with his board seats or Artwork sales.
Quid pro quo.
It’s swampy and I don’t like it.
You shouldn’t either

You fail to grasp that while you may not like the Ballroom funding, it is legal. The Democrats fraud is illegal. That’s a huge difference
Lots of things are legal but questionable. Democrats legally enrich themselves on stock trades made on inside info. It’s legal but wrong
Trump boys own Liberty Financial and trump makes deals that help that company with crypto deals. Legal but questionable and swampy
Hunter Biden paints dumb art and sells it for millions…. Legal but questionable and swampy.
Demand more.

yes. and it's exactly who you'd expect. no telling how much trump sold us down the river for these donations, or how much he'll pocket off those future deals

Btw, your linky no worky.
WH Ballroom Donors list (Fortune Mag)
Budget was originally $200m. Now $300m. A freebie, so who cares! WH royalty can't be expected to keep on entertaining 1000 VIPs by squeezing them into giant opulent tents -- how gauche!
This gargantuan American Louvre is a priority! That way International Elites, Overlords, VIPs and their maids, dress-fitters, hairdressers, valets, and chauffeurs won't be slummin in the now paved over BB Court (formerly the historic Rose Garden).

No lies
If I donate to help the government build a dumb ball room- I want something in return
Like selling overnight stays in the lincoln bedroom, it’s wrong

it should. the one you posted is direct, which is behind a paywall. mine is to archive.ph
it seems to work on my end. you do have to scroll down a bit through some white space. let me know if you still don't see it
Posted on 2/3/26 at 5:43 pm to FLTech
Well maybe they should talk to Newsome and the Dems in California responsible for taking care of it
Posted on 2/3/26 at 6:17 pm to LemmyLives
Another thig to that people seem to not think about is that whenever there are events at the white house but they end up having to move the event to a different location because there simply is not enough room at the current white house, makes it a security nightmare and supposedly this happens way too many times/year

Oh, corporations being squeezed by Trump to pay for his lavish ballroom in order to get most favorable status (contracts) isn't costing us ?
