As to why a conservative “should” support Trump, I would say the argument would be that his stances on trying to reel in government bloat

You mean firing middle class Americans for no valid reason other than they didn’t donate enough to him.

Again why does it matter that we support Trump in a free country. Why do you conservatives feel the need to encroach on everyone that does? You’re just batshit crazy ate up with tds.

How has Trump grown government in 4 months?

Hes trying to cut the Dept of Ed and send it back to states.
They implemented DOGe and trying to do the rescissions package, which would fund less government.
wants external revenue service to replace IRS (surely this requires less workers)

I mean aren't those ways to shrink the government?

The same reason it matters to you that people don’t support him.

No duh. He's antiwar, prefers fair trade to free trade, championed and signed the First Step Act, repealed the individual mandate, made the child tax credit refundable, doesn't trust the see eye aye, and was a Democrat as recently as 2010. I'm a lib and I walked away before he did.

You are right. We would have been far better off with Cackles the Clown actually increasing spending and allowing the border to be overrun.

You are a moron if you think he hasn't been pushing to cut government but maybe you might want to brush the dust off of you civics book. He doesn't have the power to FORCE the spineless conservatives in congress to chop the budget up, codify Doge cuts and stop spending as much as liberals.

Elon is upset that the BBB didn't cut enough. Guess fricking what. You have to start somewhere. By law you can't fire everyone. Most of DC is protected by rules and regulations. If you want to fire them you have to have CONGRESS change the rule book.

He has done more in 5 months than any conservative in 50 years to try and cut spending. That is a fact. So even though he isn't a conservative, which no DUH he was a registered democrat most of his adult life, he has done more in a shorter time than any spineless republican in office.

Oh and you pearl clutching pussies crying that everything isn't immediately done, he has only been in fricking office for 5 months. sack up. you are pathetic.

No shite

Trump has never been tied to an ideology. He's a POPULIST and anyone with sense has known that since 2015.

He believes in going with whatever helps America, no matter what side of the aisle the policy falls on.

Trump is not a conservative

Again and again we have seen President Trump act, say and promote ideas that are not conservative....

We need to shrink government not just fire a few employees. We need to cut spending. Trump seem to talk one way but act another. He's grown government and he wants the debt ceiling removed.
Right.

Paul Ryan was a great "conservative." Wasn't he though? He talked a great game. Didn't he though? Yet, he accomplished nothing in his own rite. Why? People cite Massey as a wonderful conservative. He's accomplished absolutely nothing. Why?

Congress has control of the purse strings.
Repubs have control of Congress.
They're basically locking in Biden's deficits.

IF they were willing to actually pass a 10yr obligatory top-line nominal budget freeze, you think Trump would not support it? Hell, if the votes were there, Trump would propose the damn thing. Obamacare being a shining example. But Trump's paramount emphasis is growth and a resonant economy. He is not going to put that at risk, just to have Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Turtle scuttle it over "draconian" cuts.

In the end, our deficits are nobody's fault but our own. We are the folks who are voting these nitwits in. We are the folks who could vote them out.
