So in ten years, Trump will still have added less to the debt than obama did in Eight?
Well considering it's trending higher and higher, he's sure trying his best to match Obama, without the recession/TARP excuse. It's like he's taken the adage that "the first million is the hardest," and decided to change million to trillion and earning money to losing money.

We're projected to increase the debt by another $7.56 trillion over the next 7 years through 2024, which is pretty close to the $7.66 trillion that the debt increased over Obama's last 7 years. And with the way the deficit is increasing plus the GDP growth looking less likely to meet the admin's standard to offset it, I think there is a good chance Trump will manage to increase it more than Obama did over those 7 years (assuming he's reelected).

We just want to be sold on tax cuts. There are very few fiscal conservatives, no one cares about the long term. Spending should be our primary concern, but even from die hard "conservatives" that's just too hard. So we go further in debt. MAGA

What was the 1 trillion spent on ? If it’s mostly hurricanes, Obama care , welfare ect then I am not sure how this is his fault .

So he’s on tract to match the obama administration’s debt growth while at the same time lowering taxes? Sounds like a win to me. But I agree the debt should be focused on. We must only invest into that which has the potential to produce a return. So I suggest that we address these cancerous entitlement programs. We’d be better off taking that money and burning it.

Well I agree that tax cuts are a win, especially for us citizens who can't just run up unlimited deficits; however, that doesn't excuse the fact that we're continuing the spend like Obama.

Well we're not really better off burning it because at least people buy stuff with it.

I just don't understand why they don't just make all departments and programs that fall under the discretionary budget identify redundancies and inefficiencies and then make small cuts across the board (including defense).

I suspect that most departments and programs could trim those things while minimally impacting jobs and functions. Just trimming about 2.4% of the spending would amount to about 100 billion less per year based on the current trends.

Obama racked up 10 trillion in 8 years so I guess this is kind of a cessation, right?

Because the bureaucratic bloat has gotten so massive that trimming at all is thousands and thousands of lay offs. Its absolutely disgusting how many utterly useless people government employs, at every level.

This is the problem, not the revenue. Spending, cut the freaking spending. We have to balance our check books, why don't they?

The tax cuts aren't that massive

I didn't know that Nancy Pelosi posts on here.

Mrs. Pelosi, listen. They are decent to me. They aren't in the millions, like you're used to judging shite by, but decent.

HailHailtoMichigan!
Which 2016 candidate would have seen a different debt result after 14 months?

That's probably mostly accurate. Most of the economic trends are hard to turn on a dime. But Trump bragged that he did better than Obama in his first month in office. (He did) But that was mainly because of the great recession and bank bail out in the early months of 2009 and the relatively good economic condition of the early months of 2017. (Relatively good, not great by any means.)

The tax cuts and huge budget increases will massively balloon the national debt over the next couple of years unless voodoo economics is a real thing and revenues go up with a tax cut and expenses go down with a $100 billion increase in the military budget.

With the looming elimination of Dodd-Frank and deficit spending into the forseeable future, the crash is inevitable. It's just a matter of when.

I just hope and pray Trump doesn't start another war to take voters minds off a big economic crash that occurs before the 2020 election.

Small government "conservatism" is a pipe dream in 2018. Name the last republican president who actually spent responsibly and didnt add to the debt. Definitely not either Bush or Reagan.

Is there something in your response that has anything to do with the discussion of the deficits that TRUMP is running up?

Again...a simple concept you can't seem to grasp.

There you go again with that same inane response - over and over. Don't you realize how feeble that is?
quote:

It creates a baseline so we can discuss what trump policies increased what that base should be

That says nothing. So go ahead and discuss the deficits; don't just talk about doing it.

Now if you look at the receipts and outlays, the deficit is $848 billion during Trump's first 14 months and growing pretty quickly. On the other hand, it was $847 billion during Obama's LAST 22 months.
You do realize eight (8) of Trump's "first 14 months" were functioning under Obama's budget. Right?

And in that regard, and in fairness to Obama, you do realize 2017 was the most expensive Hurricane season on record. Right?

So all you Democrats complaining about the national debt are now on the record that Trump should do something about it? Then start telling your constituents to start finding jobs because their days of entitlements are numbered. If they think by sitting on the front porch and drinking during the day while we work to support them is oppression, what will they think when their welfare checks and Medicaid are gone?
