Ehhh....

Didn’t he withhold money from them before bc their government was corrupt and turns out he was right? Bc they were hiding supplies from citizens in a warehouse?

I hear there are 'Ricans scattered throughout the U.S. (displaced) who are eligible to vote wherever they are, for national offices. So pro move on Trump's part, IMO.

He did, and apparently tried to trade them too...that’s why I’m scratching my head. I suppose he’s trying to secure Puerto Rican votes.

If that’s the case, that seems kinda desperate.

A nickle here, a dime there and soon you are 21 trillion in debt.

I want spending cut, but I do like the idea that a lot of this is to help get the pharmaceutical production back up in that territory. We need all medicines, vitamins, food, etc. moved out of China.

China is arse hoe. Trump don't trust Chinrah!

Just politics. Money talks, especially in poorer areas, and it's not a bad move. If it works.

Every move is a good one if it gets the votes.

Only about three years late. Pretty convenient this happens weeks before reelection time.

The administration has cited concerns about alleged "mismanagement and corruption" in Puerto Rico as the reason for the holdup.

quote:

Wanda Vázquez Garced (born July 9, 1960)[5][6] is a Puerto Rican politician and attorney who has been the Governor of Puerto Rico since August 7, 2019.[7][8] Prior to her tenure as governor, she served as the 19th Secretary of justice from 2017 to 2019. A member of the New Progressive Party and Republican Party of Puerto Rico, Vázquez Garced is the second female governor in Puerto Rico history after Sila María Calderón. She assumed the office following the resignation of Ricardo Roselló and the judicial annulation of Pedro Pierluisi's short-lived government in the aftermath of the Telegramgate Scandal.

Seems to be clear cut as to why it took so long. The admin simply didn’t trust the prior leadership.

It's not convenience. It's politics.

Jeez, I just can't figure out why it was done now and not 3 years ago. The fricking problem went away.

so "desperate"

This would be like replacing Cuomo with a governor not named cuomo

You have to assume they are seeking ROE. Puerto Rican’s don’t vote for Republicans in national elections. I wonder what they see as ROE and where it would help? New York State?
