re: 2026 vs 2025 Talent & Coaching

Posted by TigerProwl24 on 7/30/26 at 6:53 pm to
We aren’t a passing team, let’s be real. We are a run first, dominant defense type of team. Always have been and unless something changes, always will be. It is our bread and butter and how we made a name for ourselves. QBs that can run have always given us a chance
Nice breakdown. The only thing I would offer is that in a few positions, where you mentioned the departed but not returning or an addition. You did at DL.

DE - Losing Keyron, McCloud, and Amaris Williams is tough.

We can just combine DE and Edge if you want but I believe Darrion and Jared Smith have a higher ceiling than the players you mentioned. We have several guys that are inexperienced but very talented, and will make a name for themselves this season.

As far as the WRs go, would you rather have WRs that are uber talented but misused, or WRs that fit well in a system and play to their potential?

And my last point, I think I see more positives than negatives in your post

Pretty sure I dated her in college

Heard that.

What’s the case on Nimrod? Not doubting your vibe I just don’t know anything about him

He was originally committed to Tennessee out of high school and followed AG to USF, same as J Echols. They are both bonafide SEC players. Nimrod is one of the few, that can play all 3 WR positions at a high level. He Would’ve broke out last season for USF, but he got injured during the season. Pretty sure he was leading them in receptions and yards when he got hurt. He is our best deep threat and the only knock against him, is that he can be a body catcher sometimes and trap the ball between his arms and pads, instead of catching it with his hands. But he should be a big playmaker for us

Who is out 1000 yard WR?

Odds are we won’t have one. We haven’t had one since Ronney Daniels, I believe.

Who will be our sack leader?

It could be a number of people but I expect Jared Smith and Darrion Smith to lead the way.

Basically, I think the players to watch on offense is:

1. Byrum Brown-QB
Our season goes as he goes. One of 12 QBs in history to throw for 3k and run for 1k. We’ll need him to do similar to be competitive.
2. Jeremiah Cobb-RB
We plan on running the piss out of the ball and Cobb will be the main benefactor with teams having to account for Brown’s rushing ability.
3. Chaz Nimrod-WR
The most underrated WR in the group and shown flashes but because of injuries and other things, have never been able to put it all together. If we are going to be good, Nimrod will have a breakout season.
4/5. Keshaun Singleton and Jeremiah Koger- WR
These guys can win down the field and in the red zone. Both have a chip on their shoulder because they’ve heard all off season long how they might not be good enough to produce in the SEC. Both have a lot to prove.
6. Bryson Washington- RB
A bigger back than Cobb, so we’ll likely need him to get the tough, short yardage yards. A very productive RB throughout his career at Baylor
7/8. Bryce Cain and Deshawn Spencer-WR
Both slot guys. Cain being the last WR from the Freeze 4 and vet, with Spencer being a FR but showing signs of playing early
9-12. Jake Johnson, Jonathon Echols and Boardingham at TE. There will be a rotation of TEs, split out wide, slot, inline and in the backfield as a FB.
Baylor - W
Southern Miss - W
Florida - W
Vandy - W
Tennessee - W
UGA - L
LSU - W
Ole Miss - W
Arkansas - W
State - W
Samford - W
Bama - W

And a spot in the playoffs
quote:

L - Ole Miss - Lane is going to put it to us on the road

Come on now broski. Where have you been?
That’s the first thing I thought of. It’s happening!
I can’t wait for Elijah Haven to sign with Bama and then transfer to us later on
quote:

Fong RPMed Cedrick Simmons to flip to Bama

If that’s how he feels, then fine by me. Pretty sure him and Duke are tight, so kinda makes some sense. But Simmons is a want, not a need. He isn’t Deshawn Spencer
It depends on his physicality. If he is physical, I could see him as another “Juice” Deas type
quote:

Very Sherwood -ish in stature.

Yes, similar tract of maybe Karlos Dansby but bigger. Played WR, moved to S then OLB
Word is, Miami is expected to turn up the heat on MJC to try and flip him. Please God don’t let that happen
I hope you’re right  but I have a feeling Evans might be the last commit we have for a while, like in season maybe. I hope I’m wrong
quote:

I’ve got a feeling he is the other Eagle if they can stick the landing

So you think there is an Eagle still out there, unclaimed? Again, I would have to do the math but seems all might be accounted for. We’d have to go back and do the Eagle math over again to be sure, but I’m pretty positive all the Eagles have been accounted for
quote:

Get May now?

We’ll know July 11th at the very least. Could be some buzz leading up to it, I guess we’ll see. Auburn, Georgia or Ohio State, looks like. We have our binoculars, in case any Eagles are seen
In retrospect, last season was a feeling out process for everyone involved, with the GOAT stepping down. Just like in life, you’re going to make mistakes along the way but if you take it as an opportunity to learn your lesson and not make the same mistakes, then you’ll be a lot better off. I think this staff learned a lot last season, about themselves without Bruce, and I hope it pays dividends this upcoming season. It says something that the staff is still fully intact
