Trump's stance is wrong on this, but then he wanted rates lower when the economy was roaring pre-COVID.
Rates are for handling inflation and unemployment. When the economy is strong, you raise rates to keep it from overheating. When the economy is going in the shitter, you lower rates to spur growth.
The problem we have right now is a bit of stagflation, with Unemployment holding around 4.1%-4.2% while inflation has been rising since September (the .5 cut). Cutting rates again would help Unemployment, but would fuel inflation again (as it has since September).
Rates need to be left alone for the next 6 months. Follow through with making the Trump tax cuts permanent, cut the corporate tax rate to 15%, remove red tape slowing manufacturing building/growth and cut the fricking size (and spending) of the federal government. Hold Congress to a balanced budget (0 deficit) and the USD will strengthen.
That push down on inflation will be a stronger and more lasting impact than just raising/lowering rates.

And why were they doing that?
Is trump just going to take credit for what they were already doing?
How dumb are you to not see how this is playing out?

E.g., Trump also said inflation was the worst ever during the Biden years (probably referencing rate of escalation rather than peak %). He scolded Moynihan for refusing conservative customers (referencing asymmetric debanking). He's bragged the pre-Covid economy of his first term was the best ever, "like nothing anybody's ever seen." He says we're going to tariff China 60%. Then he says we're going to tariff China 10%. Etc. Etc.
Hyperbole.
I can't wait to use this TDS leftist gibberish against you when you try to fool other posters in other threads that you are conservative.

I’m sure y’all will lose your minds at this but…
Pro-Trump or not, the last thing we need are rates cuts right now.

While I agree, Trump has no authority here. Fed is so dependent from the Govt as far as who calls the shots

What if the economy takes back off and we grow our way out of debt. It could happen.

I hate the fed, but dropping rates would be a horrible idea.

Under a useless administration such a request would lead to increased inflation. However, under an American First administration it will work

Well said. With lower interest rates Trump can finally concentrate on real infrastructure financing and buildout, not the bullshite green projects that Biden got pushed through that had little to no actual infrastructure in the bill and was more concerned with a company's ESG and DEI scoring than actual projects and operations.

We can't grow our way out of debt as long as we keep outspending our growth.
