Trump Could Have Taken A Cue From Russia’s War Strategy

Trump made a mistake in starting the war in Iran.

But he also made a mistake in acquiescing to a ceasefire in April.

Trump could have actually take a cue from Putin’s playbook. Last year, Trump offered Putin sanctions relief and business deals in exchange for a ceasefire with Ukraine (despite protests from all of our allies that this simply rewarded Putin for bad behavior).

Putin rejected it - he knew the best negotiating position comes when you maintain the initiative. Putin’s doctrine is to maintain pressure on an adversary as long as it takes to get concessions.

Also confused? I assess this is probably due to the general aimless war strategy and unclear objectives.

For example, in February, Trump claimed he was going to “destroy their missiles.”

Then in May, he said it would be “a little unfair” if Iran didn’t have missiles although their neighbors did.

Do you think starting the Iran war was a good decision?

Even General Keane admits the April ceasefire was a mistake.

Is he not credible? Trump gave him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020.

Funny how the war isn't over by any stretch. We control the skies and the waters and you somehow conclude that it was a botched mistake. I sense your judgement is clouded byTDS and a lack of common sense.

You are probably wrong about this.

You are definitely wrong about this. The US needed a temporary respite to restock and let their supply chain catch up to the action. As a bonus we got a bunch of oil out of the Gulf.

The time to eradicate the regime was then. Now they have entrenched themselves and built popular support.

This is turning into a forever war with no logical end in sight.

What’s frustrating is all the war games simulating this conflict told the strategists this is exactly what would happen.

None of them so far

Nuclear program is still in tact. Different assholes and same regime. Iran can still cause chaos in the region with their missiles.

Not a single political objective hss been achieved.

The biggest mistake he made was starting the war too late. We should’ve started it in January and at least some level of ground troops should have always been on the table. Trump has fought this war like a little bitch

I'd argue the biggest mistake was starting it at all

Israel wanted this war. We should have let them fight it alone and only offered defense. Our involvement caused the conflict to spread to other nations that we have interests in.

I don’t give 2 shits about Israel. The protestors had real momentum in January. Trump went on TV and said to the regime “If you start shooting, I’m gonna start shooting.” Well they did and he didn’t. 10’s of thousands of protestors died and we lost all the momentum. There was a chance at legitimate regime change in January. It would’ve been bloody and cost us a bunch of American lives but it would’ve been worth it.

I'm not seeing how it would have been worth it

Iran was not a threat to the United States
