What I'm not understanding is why anyone thinks any of that is any different than the way Trump talks about and reports on everything.
That's his standard script for everything. From tariffs to the border to Iran.
So what I don't understand is why all of a sudden people think this is something different.
Because this time he actually did the stupid thing he was talking about doing.

So Israel doesn't control him?

It’s absolutely comical anyone is buying this.
I don't think they were an imminent threat to the US, I think they were a tangential threat to the US, and if it makes you feel better, not even a highly significant one, like the U.S.S.R. was in the 60s-80s.
But I think with a nuke they would be an imminent threat to destabilize nuclear weapons relations because they would use it. Not on us, but on Israel. Guaranteed. Unless Israel nuked them first.
Either way, we'd be fricking idiotic to allow that to happen. If the first country to violate the nuclear taboo was a shite-pot terror exporter like Iran and they were allowed to get away with it, it would likely start a chain reaction that would eventually endanger American citizens. Not because Iran would launch ballistic missiles at us, but because some Snackbar would eventually wander into Times Square with a small nuke or a dirty bomb in a hot dog cart and set it off.
It's amazing to me that people can't see that. Intentional IMO.

Nope.
We've had idiot tariffs for a year now.
Trump was going to stop the Ukraine war on "Day One."
Don't look now, but it's Day 424 and Ukraine and Russia are still at war.

Why?
The same reason you'd be dumb to concede the outcome of a football game 3 minutes into the game.

And I’m sitting at home fricking around on TigerDroppings instead of being in Times Square. Whatever’s happening out there right now probably makes V-Day look like a random lockdown Tuesday in 2020.

Good. Now all the “Persians” doing the YMCA dances can home and actually fight the war.

I don’t understand how rational people believe this.
No one is nuking anyone else just because.

if Trump leaves, I suspect all those military bases in the middle east will be shut down.

Your “just because” and a people (or group or organization etc) with, in some aspects, incomprehensibly differing way of life’s “just because” probably don’t resemble one another too much.

No, Iranians do not have a fundamentally different way of life than most of the rest of the world. Daily life in Iran is no different than any other nation in the region relative to income—obviously excluding the sheiks in Dubai, etc.
No, it’s not realistic to believe that they just want to die so badly that they clamor to the hope of a nuclear weapon so they can immediately use it on Israel and bring about the total ruin of their own country. That makes ZERO sense.

Lol. The people who pull the trigger on the weaponry in question, or the people who tell them to…….those are the people to whom I was referring. Not random Iranians. Because in a wartime situation, they’re the ones who are of most relevance in that context. My bad, I guess I just assumed that was an obvious, assumed point, given the specific subject matter.

We weren’t in a wartime situation.
No, I do not believe that Iran was going to just wake up on a random Tuesday and lob a nuclear weapon at Israel. That makes no sense and accomplishes zero goals for any possible nation state.
I’m sorry that you have been gaslit into believing that because they are fanatical about their religion that they are illogical and suicidal in the general sense. That has never been the case.

Oh, so if I don’t share your same opinion and position in this area, then welp obviously I’ve been gaslit into believing, I guess whatever it may be that is not meshing with you? C’mon bro, that’s so weak.
I think you’re a troll. But on the off chance you aren’t, no. My thinking is that your position on what Iran would do is ridiculous and unsupported by, well—anything ever. Human nature, history, public information, any of it.
Lobbing a nuclear weapon at Israel accomplishes NOTHING that Iran would want to accomplish.

I love it. No where else good to turn, gaining no ground…..so run with the good ole “pffft, clearly a troll, as if”
Perhaps you should study up on “respectable exit” and exploring that art of war, instead of the ineffective methods you’re attempting here.

Or you could just respond to the substance of my post instead of some weird troll-adjacent bait post.

Wait, you truly don’t understand why a war involving a nation of 100 million people is different than when he just spouts off about trade policy?
