His sons probably told him how the family empire was doing.

Those are the two polar opposites of the spectrum. Why can't it ever be anything in between?

Yeah why listen to doctors during a pandemic.

It's not just a pandemic. It's also an economic recession and in many sectors of the economy a downright economic crisis. If you are worried about hospitals being overwhelmed how overwhelmed will they be when in addition to COVID they have to deal with the consequences of everyone in the country buying up all the guns and ammo they can find and half the work force unable to make a living or buy food? Shut the country down for two months and you will have the next sequel to The Purge playing out throughout the country.

There is also another practical reason for not shutting the country down and ordering everyone in their living spaces for two months. It won't work. We are Americans. We won't stand for that shite. We don't like being told what to do and tend to rebel when people try to force us to do so. We may pragmatically deal with it in the course of our jobs but we sure aren't going to abide by it in our free time. You already can find cases of people giving the authorities the middle finger on this and we haven't had to do it for a week yet. What on earth makes you think we are going to be hunky-dory with doing it for two or three months?

Bump this thread because I hate to say I was right but I was fricking right. I personally know 3 people here in Albany that have died. An infected person went to a funeral and infected possibly 500 people. One of those people was a juror on a murder trial that just concluded. 2 people employed at the Dougherty Co Courthouse not including the probate court judge have died. Another judge and his wife are in Macon/Augusta. Our local shithole hospital has been on CNN every day because the media comprehend how a tiny little town can be hit this hard. We have the highest infection rate per capita in America. Based on the positive tests that have resulted in deaths it’s around 5%. If you are put on a ventilator you have an 85% chance of dying.

Interestingly, the epidemiologists overestimated Ebola. Weird.

Ebola doesn’t compare to this. It’s way worse.
