I think you're taking message board give/take too literally. There aren't but a few Ron fans that don't believe there was more than normal frickery in 2020. FFS - it's one of the reasons many of us disfavor Trump in '24, that shite happened under his watch and it ended with Dem control. Trump's shitty response to Covid opened the door to a ton of the election frickery.
Also, there are many that agree with a large portion of the "2020 was stolen" argument, but not every single thing Trump superfans believe. They're cast as Leftist filth because of the 10% of MAGA's narrative they're not in agreement on, but they're actually 90% onboard with you.

So, you don't need to explain anything about turnout. However, I am curious about why you think so little of MAGA - that a lot of "America First Patriots" are actually pretty dim and not that patriotic. That's something you could enlighten me on.

He seemed to hedge a bit in his answer though. I wouldn't be surprised if he's trying to downplay the trans issue to appeal to...some voter demographic. I don't know who it is, but maybe that's what he's doing?

Between 2008 and 2012, did 4 million voters say "I hate Barack Obama, so I'm gonna sit this one out"? No. There simply was not the enthusiasm in 2012 driving his voters to the polls.
Meanwhile, Romney had a huge GOTV campaign to counter his milquetoast perception, but it self-destructed. Roughly 3 million fewer voters showed up in 2012 d/t enthusiasm, and Romney lost by 4M instead of McCain's 10M.
