I'm not saying they are not the financial industry 's version of smack dealers. But if you are going to borrow unsecured funds.....there's a price to be paid figuratively and literally

Nobody I see in this thread has stated that at all.

So are predatory practices by those entities.

price controls exist at the federal level already too, just not specifically for credit card interest rates

Would be a dumb policy. Not sure what the President's authority would be to do so anyway.
The only thing the government should possibly be involved with here is transparency under the consumer protection laws. If you are very clear you are charging 90% and people still want to get credit from you, so be it.

10%, 25%, frick 100% interest on credit cards has exactly the same impact on me.
Zero, and I put anywhere from 7-10k a month on them. I just pay them off 3 times or so a month.

Sure. But there is also regulations put into place by the constitution. Powers given to congress.

I have no need for them. Don't use them at all.

Today I had
Golf - 25.00 (member rate)
Massage - 109.25
Groceries - 51.34
Christmas purchases - 112.20
Could have put them on checking debt, but I get cash back on the credit card and my charges are the same since pretty much everyone bakes the credit card charge into their pricing.

I'm not knocking you for it.

I get literally thousands of dollars a year in rewards, and that's not even taking into account the 25% bonus using points on travel-related items through Chase.

Not especially. My concern is where this leads the party long term. Some people will bring up how we've been sold out for decades and there is some truth to it. I have little to no interest in having policy positions that resemble the dems and even less in what the progs are championing. The party is changing for sure. Into what exactly is what I'm not sure of.

Even if you don't like Trump there are still down ballot races that need to be won. Get out and vote.

The irony is that there are a lot of people in the MAGA/populist faction who call normal Republicans names, and then ask similar questions when their "capitalist" avatar has to face the reality of the Leftism required for populism/MAGA, when normal Republicans still, for the most part, honor those values.
