WASHINGTON—President Trump’s super PAC has entered the competitive Senate race in Texas with its largest spend of the current political cycle—a $10 million ad buy to back Republican Ken Paxton and oppose his Democratic challenger, James Talarico.

The Saturday filing with the Federal Election Commission by MAGA Inc. splits the spend evenly, with $5 million supporting Paxton and the rest opposing Talarico. The money will go toward connected TV—streaming TV on internet-connected devices—and digital ads.

The super PAC has amassed a war chest totaling more than $403 million as of the end of July. Some Republicans have privately expressed frustration that the group hasn’t been spending much of the money to help the GOP keep control of Congress.

Paxton has struggled to match the fundraising of Talarico, whose campaign has brought in some $68 million to Paxton’s $9 million. Many Republicans have been waiting for Trump to come to Paxton’s aid after the president backed Paxton in the GOP primary over longtime Sen. John Cornyn. The ugly primary and ascendancy of scandal-plagued Paxton, the state’s attorney general, left a bad taste in the mouths of many national party organizations.

Earlier this week, Trump defended Paxton while also insulting him, after jokes about Paxton’s clothing went viral on social media. “You might not like the way he looks,” Trump said, during one of a few times that day he mentioned Paxton’s clothing. “You might not love his television interviews. But he was the best attorney general in the country, perhaps, and that speaks a lot louder than the suit he’s wearing, that doesn’t look so great.”

The aid from MAGA Inc. is a start, but far short of the money Paxton is expected to need in an expensive campaign state with more than 20 media markets spanning two time zones.

The Senate race in Texas is one of the country’s most competitive. In a state where Democrats haven’t won a statewide race since 1994, Talarico has been polling narrowly ahead of Paxton and many political analysis outlets have recently rated the race as a tossup.

Good. Post-Labor Day campaigning is all that really counts, anyway.

If they were smart they would hire the people who made ads for Spencer Pratt. Hell, I could create some epic campaign ads blasting Talafreako. He's a much stranger human than Karen Bass. Bass is simply corrupt to her very core.

Agree.

Do that, and keep Paxton away from live cameras. Only recorded stuff where you can do multiple takes to make sure he comes off as normal and “a man of the people”.

Probably also keep him in controlled live appearances with groups of voters.

Great. Now dump $40 million into it.

And take over his GOTV effort.

This is where losing Charlie hurts.

Every time I think it's a fantasy to believe Talarico will win a Senate race in Texas, I remember when Beta O'Rourke came within 3 points of beating Cruz.

Trump wants Paxton to win..... with Trump and Elon backing Paxton running against a tutti frutti, bitch arse, weak, limp wristed piece of shite like Telirico, what reasonable thinking person would believe that Paxton will not win.
Texas might be "under attack ", but they ain't about to elect a twinkie like Talirico.

Too many Californian refugees and tranny lovers in Texas to be comfortable anymore. Houston and Austin are more liberal than San Francisco. It’s embarrassing. GOP is playing with fire but outside the metro areas it’s still solid red, especially most of West Texas and the panhandle.

$10 million sounds like a lot but it will only handle one or two ad buys.

I watched one video of Talarico, and just seeing how he sits tells me he ain’t the one. Very womanly sitting style.

Who else remembers when this exact narrative was framed when Beto O'Dork was challenging Lion Ted for his seat?

lol, tejas needing millions to beat a pedo

Purple state as it gets, pedo wouldnt of made it past the primary in a Red state like Missouri, and would be beat by 18-20 points in Election for Governor

Beto was ahead of Cruz in one poll the entire time ahead of their race in November. It’s a similar narrative, but definitely not the exact same one.

Cruz was ahead of Beeto in every legit poll. The media tried to create the narrative of Texas “turning blue”, especially TX Monthly and Houston Chronicle wishing such through their blatant biased articles; however, the polls showed a much different story in the Cruz vs Beeto race.

Houston elected John Whitmire as Mayor. Someone like him wouldn’t stand a chance getting elected in San Francisco or Austin city-wide.
