WASHINGTON — The Trump administration took nearly $10 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's budget this summer to help boost U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to budget documents shared with USA TODAY. The revelation, just ahead of Hurricane Florence's expected landfall in North and South Carolina, was found by Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., who first shared the documents live on MSNBC late Tuesday

quote:

He told USA TODAY that after the devastation of last year's storms, including hurricanes Maria, Harvey and Irma, FEMA should have the funds it needs to be prepared for another disastrous hurricane season.  "It's almost guaranteed to happen again, so this is just incredibly irresponsible," Merkley said.

The hurricane hasn't hit yet, but the left already has its talking points prepared.

10 million? That's like 10 dollars to the government. Where were all the democrats protest when Odummy sent 100s of millions to our enemy Iran?

That's the point. The media never scrutinized Obama on anything, but watch Trump's every move under a microscope.

Great decision, imo.

Less FEMA trailers rotting in lots, anyone?

Was it illegal? Was it outside of his authority?

If not, then not a story.

Really?
You said the same about Barry's executive orders. "So what he's the president"

Basic idiot.

That’s a wise reallocation of money. Our country has shown that we can quickly recover from even the most devastating hurricanes. Much more difficult to rebuild your lives when your kid is hooked on drugs that came from South of the border, or has been murdered or raped by an illegal alien. Once again, trump knows what he’s doing!

The supplies were there for the hurricane victims. FEMA's budget wasn't the issue that stopped people from getting the supplies they needed. It was corruption at the local level. This is a nonissue. Only the TDS-infected or ignorant will buy that this is the reason people weren't getting the provided supplies.

I would argue that illegal immigration is a Federal Emergency.

You know there will be a negative hurricane narrative, this could be the talking point. If everyone does well and survives, you won’t hear much, but this is a monster storm, it’s going to be bad, and there will be idiots that will stay and be in the path. News cycle fixing to be crazy.....

$10M in Federal funds is less than a rounding error.

Just for comparison, in 2015 FEMA had a budget of $7,000,000,000 to respond to disasters.

In 2018, that number is $7,400,000,000.

$10,000,000 is 0.1% of that budget.

FEMA is an overall waste of money and the majority of their employees aren't the brightest. Seriously, it's a good idea and can be effective when utilized in the right way, but from what I've witnessed, there's a ridiculous amount of waste in their budget. I mean, who hear has ever dealt with them? If so, you know what I'm talking about.

I know for a fact, portions of their budget go towards remapping flood zones. That can be privatized. Just an example.

They view that money as well spent.

Considering the Omnibus Spending Bill increased the annual appropriation of grant dollars available for FEMA’s Non Disaster FMA & PDM Grant Programs from just under $200,000,000.00 last year to just under $500,000,000.00 this year, I’m yawning in the general direction of this “revelation”.

They may have taken $10,000,000.00 from FEMA but they gave tons more back in the way of grant dollar available to do projects to mitigate hazards from things like Hurricanes.

I’d want to laugh at the stupidity of this number, yet the media and the left are still sky screaming over $100,000 in Facebook ads

MSNBC was on the case last night setting the table for the Deep State media. Some Dem Senator schmuck gave out the info and I'm sure it's a made up document knowing there history.
