The Trump administration is planning to publish a rule that would allow the government to send illegal immigrants who did not apply for asylum back to Central America.

The rule, which will be published on the federal registry on Tuesday, stems from Asylum Cooperative Agreements with Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras that were made this summer. Former acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan helped broker the deals.

Under the agreements, these countries are required to stop any illegal immigrants attempting to come to the U.S. If one of the countries fails to stop an illegal immigrant coming through, the U.S. is allowed to send immigrants to the country through which they immigrated.

there is a simple solution to the undocumented immigration issue staring us in the face.

extend a 60 day amnesty to all undocumented workers in country now...with proof of employment (employers get amnesty also) a green card is issued and they are placed in the citizenship process.

if you want your wall after that then go for it.
I don’t think most people are being honest about their understanding of the consequences to the economy if all of a sudden that percentage of the skilled labor force were to disappear, much less the very real humanitarian issue

the question to be asked is this...
is the problem that the people here are undocumented, or that they are here at all?

if the former, then document them

I agree. Document they're here illegally and bypassed our immigration system, then kick them out.

you are the one not being honest with yourself. We'd be fine.

this country would starve without undocumented ag workers. The construction industry would grind to a halt without undocumented framers, roofers and finishers.

just two examples

Are you being honest about the effect giving 20 million illegal immigrants green cards will have? Do you think those people, many of whom have skills to be an auto mechanic, plumber, carpenter, etc, will be happy picking apples if they can apply for a job as a mechanic at the local garage? Will a garage owner continue to pay his current mechanic $45/hr when he can pay a Mexican green card holder $25/hr?

There will be a huge influx of workers who will be willing to do jobs for lower pay than the workers who hold those jobs now. This will drive wages down and we will have many Americans either taking a pay cut or going on unemployment.

I haven't heard anybody say we are going to send 20 million people back. President Trump has said he wants to send the "bad people" back, but wants to find a way to keep the majority here. Let's do that.

I emphatically say, "NO" to giving the people here illegally a pathway to citizenship. I want to find a way to give them a permanent worker visa that will allow them to stay as long as they want, provided they aren't involved in any hardcore criminal activity.

there would be no illegal immigration if there were not a demand for it...that demand is the need for employment and people come here to take those jobs

go get you a dozen hood rats and come out to one of my job sites and I’ll pay you based on the work that gets done

Both these industries existed before cheap labor, and both will exist after it.

Total bullshite. You're convinced I know but you're 100% wrong. We would be fine. Never miss a beat.

'Skilled'

From seeing the poor quality work done on new homes in my area in a variety of skill sets (carpentry, painting, sheetrock, etc.), I would hesitate to use that word when describing the workforce.
