What’s going on with Iowa? People of color, blue. White people, blue. Yet it’s gone red by an average of 10 points the last three presidential elections.

Women.

Goes back to red when it's White Men. Holding the line.

Perhaps the craziest thing of all is that, if only white people voted, Illinois would be red. Tells you a lot about Chicago
You go far enough south in Illinois, it's almost like the actual South down there. Chicago is a lost cause.

College educated Whites also going blue in a lot of places. Indoctrination stations, go figure.

Northeast and Northwest corners of the country, even White Men still going blue. These guys are whipped.

And here is where our brief moment of agreement must end.

cubbies regularly repeats both feminist and Marxist propaganda.

She actually usually actively avoids and obfuscates revealing her general political views or whom she votes for—except with respect to local politics, during which she repeats standard Democratic talking points—so conceding that I certainly don't read everything she writes, I haven't seen her express anything that would place her in the category of a "moderate libertarian," with the possible exception of her stance on crime and punishment revealing libertarian tendencies, although the term "moderate Libertarian" seems like an oxymoron to start with.

I apparently misunderstood and though the term "retard" in the post I was commenting on meant stupid.

You have apparently interpreted it as meaning radical.

I don't have as much interest in commenting on that proposition as I do the other, although there are certainly several radical posters here.

You and I are arguing different points.

Nope. I'm responding directly to your statement that women could not have been responsible for the left being in power because they didn't have the vote during Marxism's "heyday," which is wrong on two counts.

quote:

You are arguing about the effect of women on American politics, especially the 19th amendment.

Strike two. I'm using women's primary role in the passage of the EIGHTEENTH amendment as an example to show how your conditional entailment above is false.

The passage of the 19th amendment didn't have nearly the universal support among women that the 18th did, nor were women the primary reason it passed.

And by the way, one of the chief arguments of the anti-suffragettes is that women having the vote would decrease their power and influence over political doings, specifically in the area of social reform. The idea is that they would simply become another voting bloc whose votes politicians would be able to buy instead of remaining outside that system and beholden to only their consciences.

And what do you know? That's exactly what happened. Women used to be the moral conscience of the country before they voted. Now they are just another political voting bloc that politicians whore themselves to.

quote:

it started with a misunderstanding.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not confused about anything that has taken place in this conversation.

For the most part, you just have to be married to and have kids with a voter.

Not even that.

Women pre-19th were extremely active in influencing societal policy; not just in their own homes, although they did that too.

They formed anti-slavery and temperance societies, societies dedicated to the care of the elderly and orphans, started schools for the blind, the poor, and other disadvantaged people, they were activists for labor reforms, they circulated petitions and spoke publicly and campaigned for all sorts of causes and policies. Anti-slavery, anti-Jim Crow, anti-labor abuse, etc., etc.

They were a legitimate political force. They really were the moral conscience of the country.

Now that they can vote, what do they do?

March for the "right" to kill their children in utero. About a million a year, on average. Wearing pussy hats.

Because that's what happens with voting. Everyone just votes their own self-interest. There was a good balance in the country when half the adults in it didn't have that temptation.

Still makes no sense. It says white women blue, white men red, but white people overall is also blue

Hardly a strike. Women had a lot of influence through the Suffragette movement. They had no power in the sense that they did not vote. They relied on kindly men agreeing with them. Men passed these amendments. That is not the power envisioned in the thread title. And that is obvious because if that is considered power then women have always had power, and the whole thread would be debating nothing.

I hadn’t heard that, perhaps because it is laughable. If it was true all women would have to do to become more powerful is all of them agree not to vote. Anyone can see the absurdity of that. I’m not disagreeing with you that someone made that argument, though.
quote:

Ahem.

Back to my point. Marxism was invented by men, and it was foisted upon Russia almost completely by men. Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Beria; it is a long list before anyone gets to a woman.

Anyway, if you truly believe that women have lost power over this then there really isn’t much disagreement between us over the main point.
quote:

True or False: the Left is Only Ever in Power Because of Women

Clearly not. Leftism ascended as you say women’s power descended.

Yeah, I'm not sure. The same thing happens the opposite way with California. White women blue, White men red, white people overall blue and obviously California going blue in actual elections.

Here's what Grok said:

'The pattern in the 2016 chart for Iowa reflects a large gender gap among white voters in the pre-election polling data used to build those hypothetical maps, not the actual election results.

The chart (created by Ste Kinney-Fields from FiveThirtyEight’s 2016 “How to Swing the Election” tool and 270toWin) is a projection based on then-available state-level polling crosstabs, not the final vote. In that model, Iowa appears blue under “White People” and “White Women” but red under “White Men” because the estimated preference gap between white women and white men was large enough to tip the overall white (and white-women-only) scenarios Democratic while white men remained solidly Republican.'

They also had a lot of influence in the anti-Suffragette movement.

Women being universally for attaining the vote is an (intentional) revising of history. They were far more divided about that than they were the previous amendment.

quote:

They had no power in the sense that they did not vote.

Good grief. That's the whole point. The whole point is that you are assuming a necessary equivalence between voting and power and I'm telling you that doing that is a myopic and largely incorrect assumption because power can come in more forms than voting. And I have given plenty of evidence to substantiate that viewpoint, which you've done nothing to rebut.

I've disagreed with you about feminism before, so I am aware that you will not let it go even when you've been shown to be wrong about something, but damn, man.

quote:

That is not the power envisioned in the thread title.

O.k. Copy and paste the text in the OP that substantiates that assertion and I'll concede it.

quote:

And that is obvious because if that is considered power then women have always had power

They always have, and I said so in the first (or maybe 2nd) post to you on this subject. That's when you compared women to rabbits and goats, revealing yourself to be a huge misogynist. Remember?

Again, women have been responsible for amendments passing, orphanages and schools for the blind and deaf and poor being built, as responsible as men for the abolition of slavery, etc., etc. Denying that they have had political power is frankly moronic, especially when you also insist that they are the ones responsible for the 19th amendment passing. Then it shifts from being moronic to downright self-refuting. Both can't be true. Either women really didn't have much of anything to do with passing the 19th (when they couldn't vote), or it's obvious that they had significant political power and influence.

quote:

the whole thread would be debating nothing.

Nothing about that proposition would invalidate the thread debate. You are now making the same mistake that the guy made way earlier in the thread by hearing, "When the left gains power, is that all because of women," and turning it into, "If women have political power we will always have the left in power."

If you want to debate whether women VOTING has resulted in the election of more and more radical leftists and the general landscape of politics shifting left, o.k. But that's not what the OP says.

quote:

I hadn’t heard that, perhaps because it is laughable.

You really will expose yourself to be a giant fricking moron on this subject at the drop of a hat, won't you? You do it every time feminism comes up. Exactly what they predicted is exactly what happened. It's one thing to deny a prediction. It's another to deny it after it has come to pass.

You know what some of their other predictions were? That giving women the vote would disrupt harmony in the family, pit women and men against each other, and lead to significantly more divorce and broken families.

If you deny any of those things have actually happened, then you are just being dishonest.

quote:

Back to my point. Marxism was invented by men, and it was foisted upon Russia almost completely by men. Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Beria; it is a long list before anyone gets to a woman.

That was not your point, nor was it the argument you made. Being dishonest about this is as natural as breathing to you, apparently.

Your point was that women necessarily could not be responsible for the left attaining power because they couldn't vote "during Marxism's heyday."

Again, wrong on two counts. Women COULD vote during Marxism's heyday, and you don't have to be able to vote to influence elections and public policy.

If that were true, MSNBC and Fox News would need to be able to vote to influence elections and policy, which is clearly false.

Correct, but she also expresses desire for less government in many instances and has shared enough to know she is a capitalist to some extent.

As someone who hates big government, likes some capitalist and some socialist ideas, she would be low on the tyranny scale and somewhere between the capitalist(right) and collectivist(left) ends of the scale. Maybe a bit left of center, but not extreme left of center.

Libertarian views are just diametrically opposed to big government, but they can be left or right of center (we have all seen the political spectrum charts). I myself score hardcore right of center libertarian, which puts me at odds with the Libertarian party. Unfettered immigration, abortion, unrestricted drug use and a few other things are a big no for me, but are very popular within that party which would be a moderate stance as it pertains to left/right.

But being anti-war, anti-wearetheworldpolice, and other stuff I am, does not even come close to making me left-wing. It makes me anti-government. I am a capitalist today and will be until the day I die.

As to what else she does, I do not pay much attention. Mostly it is arguments with a myriad of posters here who just show up in her threads to throw insults. Hard to filter through all that shite.

I don’t hide who I vote for. I’m extremely critical of local and state politicians so I’m not sure which democrat talking points I’m regurgitating when I’ve repeatedly criticized Cantrell and Moreno, along with Landry.

Mostly true.

I really genuinely don’t understand this. I don’t think I post anything particularly offensive or hateful. Not sure why I elicit such strong reactions here.

bullshite. I've seen you refuse to answer who you've voted for for POTUS a dozen times. All you'll do is deny voting for the Democrat.

Prove me wrong, then. Tell us who you voted for for POTUS in, say, the last 5 election cycles.

I voted for Cornell West last time. I don’t think I voted at all in 2020. I voted for Trump in 2016. I don’t think I voted in 2012. Voted for McCain in 2008. W in 2004.
