I think that was the parlance Trey used. I'm guessing Obama et.al can claim they had new information they needed to consider (the official act). And they considered it and updated the report. Remember Trump was absolutely ham strung in his first term. He just didn't have time to discover this stuff and act upon it. In 2018 he lost the house and senate 50/50 as I recall.

Not a lawyer but this goes back to Gabbard's statement that the DOJ will evaluate and decide on how to proceed.
They were trying to bring down Trump and they ginned up false intelligence. It just seems from Gowdy, they will likely get away with it.
This stuff makes me mildly sick to my stomach. I thought it was worth some discussion. And it is best to keep what he said in perspective if you think these people will be geld to account. And temper your expectations.

There are indictments for all of this stuff that have been under seal for years. The SoL hasn't expired on this stuff is my point. Also, Obama isn't immune from the charge of treason. Nor could spying on your opponents political campaign be construed as an "official act.'"

I can't remember the finer points, but unless there's something else. The New York State legislature passed the Adult Survivors Act. This law created a year long window, that allowed adult survivors of sexual assault to file civil suits against their alleged abusers, regardless of when the assault occurred, even if the statute of limitations had expired.
This is probably what you're referencing. Well that level of political gamesmanship won't happen in this situation.
I don't know how SOL laws are changed in such high federal crimes or accusations as this, but I'll bet changing laws at the state level probably doesn't have anything to do with it.
